Minor flooding already here, and the radar looks very bad,

Looking at the radar its not really making it over the Pennines so far, but be warned if it does its not fun at all.

Ore 'EA site' tells us we're about to see 'Flooding in low lying land'?

I hope this band passes soon!!!

Keep an eye out on Monday for the potential for frontal snowfall even for low levels, could be our first widespread snowfall of the winter.

Up in the air at the minute.

The Calder is 'Half Full' so I really hope that the approaching 'back edge' is for real!!!

Just back from my dog walk, my word the winds seem strong .. buffeting me off my stride.
It'll be interesting to see if its as bad as the recent named storms ?

The GFS is starting to come in line with the higher res models with a slight shift south on the 12z, expect further corrections.

It'll be the only real snowfall of the winter for alot of us.

Just sleet for us however when I looked last night the cold uppers are only a narrow band. If it's still the same tonight you're going to be depending on whether the precipitation ties in with the cold uppers or not. If it does it will be a blink and you missed it jobby if it doesn't just the normal cold wet rain.

Well for Monday. Just had a look and it's a none starter for South Yorkshire and a case of further north you are the better. North Yorkshire should see a bit of the white stuff. Thursday we could see Rain proceeded by Snow on hills early in the morning.

Been really windy in Bempton again today, not quite as bad as last two weekends but still bad enough  that I can't get on with a couple of outside jobs which really need doing. Fed up with this winter, no proper cold and wet and windy, my least favourite type of winter.

We had a gust of 55mph earlier along with a 10-minute sustained wind of 43mph. Its been up there with recent weekends, not quite as strong as Ciara, but higher than Dennis.

This has been one of the windiest months I can remember though, since the 8th all but three days have had gale force gusts (>39mph). We've had 14 days with gale force winds in total this month, equal highest with December 2002. I suspect that is going to be beaten easily in the remaining 7 days.

I'm going for widespread accumulations of 1-3cm for low ground, 2-5cm for high ground.

Potential for 5-10cm if we see further corrections south for high ground.

Had a look at Monday myself - it depends which model you look at in terms of forecasting snow. The chance is there and worth keeping an eye on IMO.

ARPEGE 12z for instance suggests a tricky morning commute...

Is that the GFS 12z @The PIT? It showed precip moving through much quicker, turning to rain quickly away from the far north of England - seems to tie in with your chart.

Never mind the snow...look at the rain over the areas that don’t need or want it... people in those places will be tearing their hair out.

BANK! I'm surprised there are no warnings out for Monday morning, the fact there isn't any is dampening my enthusiasm somewhat!

Well well well this week is looking very interesting for Yorkshire! Thursday could be a proper snow event if it doesn't change.
