Absolutely banging it down now ward Green about a mile from Barnsley Town centre. Just checked river dove rising quickly. The pennies fill the streams going to the Worsbrough reservoir and the reservoir over spills into the river dove and goes thru the valley hitting the dearne. Then eventually the Don near Doncaster. Let's see how it pans. But to my knowledge I expect the dearne Valley to be on high flood alert by the early hours.

Just been down to the river and I don't think we're gonna make it guys?

We're just at the start of the mass of rain inbound and the river is already well engorged

I'll get snaps when it's about to breach and before they lock things down around here.....

I hope catastrophe has been avoided overnight and people have stayed safe.

A wet night here. A drier start has been extinguished thanks to a narrow squall of heavy rain that is working its way SW-NE bringing stronger gusts as well. Seems aligned to give us a sustained spell of rain.

Well more rain this weekend 34.4mm v 29.9mm winds 36mph v 41 mph. So here rainfall only events. 109.3mm already here and only just over half way through the month. For those interested in the wettest ever that was 202.5mm in 1977. I can't see this being broken unless we get few more rain storms.

90mm so far here so yes a wet month!

Looks like Yorkshire has mostly escaped this time, dare I say it? Not seeing the reports of last Sunday in the news....

Wales currently under a rare red warning though so think they have the worst floods this time. I really feel sorry for them

78mm for he month here is 20mm more than average, 31mm since this time yesterday.

We have had three really nasty squall line events causing mini-flash floods with about 5mm in less than 5 minutes onto already waterlogged ground.

A particular problem here is a large stone culvert with a grid to stop debris going down, when it's windy a lot of fine twiggy debris ends up in the water and will block the grid in minutes if one of the flashes come down increasing the already high flow by 10x - so even daily clearing is not enough.
I was out raking it off last night about 11pm and it was still nearly blocked again this morning

The one thing you'll find in common with all the flood hit regions is the amount of detritus that gets 'trapped' at high water mark?

Our gulley crews our out a.t.m. digging out the culverts but during flood events, as 4WD seems to find, it's the folk nearest the culvert that deals with leaves/twigs/litter blocking up the grate.

We cannot expect our Local Authorities/EA/Fire Brigade to cope with every 'blocked culvert' over a major rain event but the damage such can do if left clogged is significant (esp. for the properties around it?)

Glad to say last night passed without issue here in the Valley and the only jobs being handed out at the local 'Flood Hub' are for moving stones and removing sandbags....

Sadly it looks like Wales is having similar flooding to what we experienced last Sunday right now?

My heart goes out to all those affected.

Solidarity!

Feel so nice to feel that sun on face after rotten weather had recently roll on spring and some warmer weather fingers crossed. Sick to death of this never ending Autumn another winter passing by without any significant snowfall or any snow in this case and an handful of frosts very poor. Worse thing even though its being mild never felt it really apart from the odd day because of nagging wind which has made it feel colder then actually is or maybe just old age and feel it more now ha.

We seem to be under that now but theres a dead spot on the radar again so no idea for how long. Already had 26.6mm today and at 197% of the monthly rainfall. Quite a wet month!

Yes, quite a lively squall here now after a quieter afternoon.
