Hope you'll be ok grey wolf and all the others who are in the danger zones.

Really hope the region escapes another flood.

Not sure what is like in West and north Yorkshire at the mo but here in Rotherham its not bad at the mo. Sun is actually out. Not had much rain and it's only breezy.

I'll be watching the news later as I understand it's later this evening and into tomorrow when it's really going to get going.

Fingers crossed for you all

Well if we'd seen this level of activity last Saturday maybe we wouldn't have had the issues we had on Sunday!

Anyhoo's the pressure on this system has really bombed!

Down to 926mb the last I looked?

Anyone know how low last week's storm got?

EDIT: Current view out of my back door;

The sand bags are on the 'new' replacement Bridge.....

Jesus wept! A fibreboard cabinet as a flood defence - proposed by the military, too, on the BBC.

Crikey GW, stay safe. I have a lovely day here and have been playing ball with Mylo, starting some onions in the garden and getting some washing done and out. We're about to go for a run.

I really hope that everything will be OK for Yorkshire but my gut feel says not.

Bon courage!

Thankfully the heavy rain hasn't materialised and neither have the winds. Just a normal winters day was the radio commenty comment on the footie match.

Thanks for all those showing concern , it does help you know!

We're in a dry slot a.t.m so been out the front and back to watch our Troops humping sand bags by the dozen (some very pretty privates {phnar, phnar] in and among the beefy blokes!)

This next significant spell that is currently over North Wales looks nasty on the radar. Its a lot more organised than the mess that has come before it.

Think it's all going to depend on whether we do get the frontal wave development and it heads in overnight. That is the biggest worry for rain and flooding. Let's hope it doesn't materialise!

Winds picking up here a bit more now

So surreal around here..... VBA 'hard hats' trailed by 7 or 8 Squaddies tromping around the place delivering sand bags and building up defences whilst the new Bridge is slowly emptied of the Hundreds of sand bags delivered there since last evening (and through today)

The same is going on in Hebden and, I guess, down the Valley in Todmorden.....

Is this how we begin to deal with Climate Change?

Looking at the 'Flood Warning' data from the temporary measuring site in Mytholmroyd the predicted levels are nearly 2m below last weeks event? (peaking at 9 a.m. tomorrow?)

But then the plots are using 'real time' data so they can move up or down as the event progresses?

Check your risk of flooding: get current flood warnings, river and sea levels, check the 5-day forecast or use flood risk maps

Yes, by reaction. Always reaction. We are having/have had the time for action but it is not being allowed/hasn't been allowed to happen. So we are here. Will anything change? I doubt it, until we really begin to suffer...

The winds seem much stronger on this one than last weekend already. We're already having frequent gust of 50-55mph with a max gust of 58mph so far.

It seems like a much deeper low than forecast aswell. The GFS has us on 986hPa or higher until 6am tomorrow but we're already down to 985.8hPa.

What I'm seeing in the Valley is 'Window Dressing' for the public and , should it turn out to be but a damp squib, I wonder what impact it will have on future such events?

As I say this could all have been done last weekend but nobody was on site all weekend as the holes in the barriers they had created inundated us.... now a weeks worth of criticism has driven this massive effort that , if we are as lucky as it looks we might be,was nothing but 'show'

The powers that be will never invest ahead of times as you say, where's the 'profit' in that?

There is another way of ordering our World that does not cost us the Earth to enrich the 'Few'......

Any chance we can discuss the weather without bringing politics into this AGAIN? You know the rules we have on this, any further such posts will be removed as per that policy,

Its quite possible to be compassionate while not wanting to hear your views on capitalism or the global economic system. This isn't the place for that.

Thanks
