I'm gonna say a flop for most places, wintry mixture with temporary slushy deposits on high ground.

Even more marginal than yesterday away from the peak district.GFS does have heavy rain over us for Saturday evening which should help. So if Saturday doesn't come off it could well be a another snow free December on the cards.

First sleet here of December here pity I couldn't go out this morning of top would have seen and been walking in Snow. The moors do show some patchy snow this morning probably now gone after the last shower.

As for being called a happy chappy I'm just calling it as it's be shown and the models don't show at the moment any real cold. So one will be struggling to get any snow away from the highest ground. Tonight will probably need evapouritive cooling for those away from the peak district. Now the good news is GFS shows that as possibility. So it will be a case of radar watching later on.

Mmmm was hoping for more widespread activity on the radar. Annoyingly we lose the cold uppers just when the showers arrive and get them back as the showers start to clear. Further North for North Yorkshire it looks better as they keep the cold uppers so if the GFS is right and the showers arrive later in the night they'll got a covering. For us most likely rain to sleety mix with wet snow on the higher ground and Snow sticking on the moors.

Radar looking better now and if the intensity is kept should aid evpouritive cooling.

yes , that big blob ( currently over Wales is heading to Yorkshire 22.00 hrs to 04.00 hrs roughly. Looks very intense,

Both the HIRLAM and Arpege look good for our region over say 150 M

There's an Met Office warning, snow above 200m.

 Main concern is ice.

Dead duck here rain going further south. The only good bit of news is that the ECM has backed away from mild. At the moment a Snow free December for Sheffield is probably close to 80%

A disappointing bust here not enough rain to get the temperatures down. Local forecast was correct in going for mostly rain.

Can see the moors no snow lying so the snowline has risen since yesterday. The lack of overnight rain explains the flop here with 2.4mm most of that from yesterday mornings short heavy sleet shower.

Just driven back from Harrogate to Keighley. Good few inches of fluffy but wet snow on the ground and in the middle of the road.

Yes we drove past a car in a ditch over the Blubberhouses. Was very slippery.
