Up at Grenoside  North Sheffield roads are flooding with the run off from the fields, sorry can't give exact figures but water logged ground coupled the sheer volume of water over the next 12 to 18hrs will be a problem.

I feel Sheffield could have a very soggy bottom by this time tomorrow!

Very wet and it's set to continue like this overnight and into tomorrow. The River Rye was already very high on my way to work today before the rain started. Squeaky bum time coming for the more flood-prone areas of our region I think.

Leaden grey sky and persistent moderate to heavy rain here since late morning. If this continues as predicted then yellow warning is justified

Still raining, and been raining all night, some surface water but fortunately we dont get flooding around home. I would imagine prone to flooding areas are getting worried.

Well the Davis wasn't far off a total of 48.2mm and we've had another 7mm plus since then and a lot more on the way. Already beaten June 25th 24hr period when the floods happened. It may not beat the 48hr rain period for the same day which topped out at 66.7mm. The highest 48hr period is June 14th 2007 when 103.2mm fell.

Yes still raining here, perhaps 3 hours more to come and so far 42.8 mm in 23 hours. AND England beat New Zealand!

Still raining but light now Davis reckons 26.4mm from midnight which is about an extra 14mm from when I got up this morning.

Must have had 2" here now over the last two days.
Standing water in folks' front gardens that are hard landscaped.

I'll be interested to know what our local total is for October come the end of the month.

Crazy wet day/24 hours. Over 50mm since midday yesterday. Very cold day too, max was actually at midnight last night, not really been above 5c all day.

What's the record for an October day? We must have beaten the rainfall total

Final total was 60.8mm over 48 hrs. October 98 matched the 24hrs value but dropped well behind the 48hrs. However it kept raining and by 72hrs had 72.3mm. Sadly haven't got all our records as they are in western park..

I think November we are likely to see more harsh frosts especially going by the GFS 06z.

Could be a snow event for high ground this Saturday if GFS is to be believed.

All depends if the cold uppers arrive or not. Yesterday Thursday was a possibility as well but not now.

Going by the Meto looks like another miss, 3.c and rain.

BBC is showing a couple of hours of sleet

I reckon we'll see a bit of transient leading edge snow.

Yellow warning ⚠️

Prolonged rain through Thursday and overnight into Friday may bring disruption from flooding.

What to expect

Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings

Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, with a risk that some communities may be cut off by flooded roads

Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible

Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures

Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life

Tricky one for tomorrow... some places within the yellow warning area might stay relatively dry. All depends on where the heaviest rain sets up shop - at the moment I'd say the majority of models are going for around the Humber area westwards, but some a little further north than this.

Either way - somewhere is going to end up very wet tomorrow!

In other news, this "showery rain" this evening is already quite heavy and persistent
