Eye passed one hundred mm mark and that's with only two weak storms. Up the 19th it was a very dry month.

Storms were in north Sheffield and Rotherham today judging by the radar. If we were under that may have made close to 150mm

looks like hull yet again dodging the heavy thunderstorms forecast.

Yes, same here.  Really did think we would get some of the heavy showers overnight, but no.
Looks like I'd better get round with the watering can then !

Morning all,

Again I thought we were in for a real soaking overnight but just measured  1.5 cm rainfall.

See what else comes today and how bad these winds turn out.

Visiting you from the SW thread! Staying in Misson near Bawtry. Lovely area and some cracking convection this morning, recent downpour in Harworth too.

well the forecast up to and including the weekend is for plenty of rain about, but as as been the case over the last few weeks ,hull and east Yorkshire seems to be dodging most of it.lets see how it pans out.

pity the test match wasn't being played in hull today, they would have got a full days play in.yet again any rain forecast has gone around hull, looks like they got a proper soaking in Lincolnshire.id like to know the rainfall stats for hull and east Yorkshire in the last 6 months, well down I think.

Friday looks wet but the weekend I wouldn't be surprised if the east stayed dry all weekend. For us the showers look to a be a nuisance value stopping everything from drying out.

What a soggy evening it is. Very autumnal and noticed the sycamore trees opposite are showing autumn signs with leaves going yellow. Surprised as it hasn't been a cold month near average and already closing on average rainfall.

Amazing light show.   Not much rain here with it though.

Can anyone help me? I need decent records of wind speeds on the 8th and 9th of February this year in Ackworth (Pontefract). This was for during Storm Erik. I've found some wind stations on weather underground, but I'm not sure their recorded speeds are right. Can anyone help?!

Gust of 65mph here at 7am on the 9th. the 8th topped at 50mph.
That doesn't help much but anyone with a decent private station and records should be able to dig out similar stats.
However wind speeds can be very localised and a poorly sited anemometer might read far lower than an official site.

Got down to 3c last night here!

That's pretty low for early September?

Last year we got below 1C on 31st August, with fairy dry ground and clear sky it will soon tumble if there's not much wind.
Cool northerly flow was established yesterday with outstanding visibility this morning.
I took this yesterday looking south from Blakey Ridge with the last pokey showers heading towards York and Leeds.
The southern skyline main features on such a day were three large coal power stations but now the horizon is fringed with ranks of giant turbines.
