I will be chasing later, don't really want to drive further than 60-90 minutes away. I think this area should be my best bet of catching a severe storm.

I reckon the yorkshire dales will do well

Should get a new heat record tomorrow not that I'm looking forward to it. Our highest is 34.2C in August 1990

And that record has just gone as we've just reached 34.6C a few minutes ago!

I think Doncaster Sheffield has the official weather station for South Yorkshire so will Sheffield temp count?

Local weather station over 35c and heat index of 39c to say it feels horrific here would be understatement never felt anything like it.

Norton Lees weather station went to 35.2c at one point i think the all time record in Sheffield has easily gone along with the July record being smashed.

Anyone know the official figures for Sheffield? I noticed a local station recorded 35.2C and the Met Office for 3pm had 34.9C so the record has gone. How high have we officially got though?

Sunny Sheffield peaked 35.1C in the stephenson screen 35.2C on the Davies. A new record for us smashing the august 1990 record of 34.2C

Looking forward to some storms tonight. It's been a horrid day and I even got assaulted by some ignorant builder that made a scene because my pass decided to not work leaving a job.

Looks like I've maxed at 35.7c today which is amazing. Smashed the all time record easily!

Feels like Florida out there at the mo, the wind is like a hairdryer. Crazy conditions.

Let's hope it all goes with a big bang again tonight like Tuesday

Edit: temps going up right now again, so maybe I'll hit 36!!! Currently 35.8 now

Looks like the Lancashire got all the action this afternoon, looks like the storms heading over the channel and up through London will head this side of the Pennines.... Fingers crossed anyway. 33.7 in Cleckheaton today. Was gorgeous!

Felt like Bangkok out there today only with less cold beers and more work unloading containers. I'm a bit alarmed at the sudden lack of storms in the forecast given we have a level 2 Estofex warning over us! Feels thundery but doesn't really look it

Down to a cool 32.4C here

Storms look set to miss this area. Beeb forecast really skipped the storm potential so clearly not a major issue according to who ever provides there forecast.Local forecast has none for us and neither does net weather forecast.

Yup the expected flop last night with one distant rumble and 0.2mm of rain overnight. To rub it in remains of the storms further south and east keep blocking the sun out and need the sun to dry the grass before cutting.

Last night has to be the biggest disappointment ever! It was so tropical out there I thought we must have been getting some great storms.

Absolutely nothing happened. Only in the UK!
