Storms you mean? I'll be doing some radar watching this time tomorrow and getting to a good vantage point should the storms be firing out to the west or southwest

My thermometer has just tipped up to 30° C  ..

Have to test whether the pavements and roads are too hot for the dogs paws these next few days.

And please think of shade and water for pets and garden wildlife.

Thursday will be a horrid day, not looking forward to that but I am curious to see how hot it actually gets.

I am pretty hopeful about this storm potential, less sure if I'll be around for it as I'm finishing off our wedding booze ( done the whites with a bit of fizz) ..... hope they're here before I hit the sherry!!!!

We are fortunate in Bempton tonight, wind turned to the SE late this afternoon cooling it down. Left work in Malton at around 4, car air temp sensor showing 31 while driving, I suspect this equated to 28/29 actual temp. As soon as I got near the coast temperature dropped away, 23 when I got home.

Yesterday was the hottest day at home for many years, a strong SW wind kept the sea breeze away, resulting in exceptional for our location heat. 27 was reached which is very unusual, since we have lived here (13 years) only seen one hotter day.

I don't think we will see major storms here, a bit too far east, which is a shame. I wonder what Thursday will bring. Neither me or Mrs like hot weather so hopefully sea breeze will rescue us

Best chance of storms since Eurovision last year.

Clouded over, now becoming very sticky with an air temp of 26C. Sultry.

edit: a few spots of rain.

The Met Office are now forecasting 34C for Leeds so very possibly our hottest day on record. The record is 34.4C.

As I expected no severe storms on the coast. Some distant rumbles and flickering lightning just before midnight, and a couple of flashes and loud rumbles around 4 this morning,  bit of a let down. Woken to a grey wet morning.

A good half dozen or so major flashes and bangs about 3.35am this morning and useful rainfall.
Not much sleep and rather dreading the next two days of this heat.  Interesting to see records broken though.

WOW, just wow!

2;45 we had our first thunder and then all hell broke loose for 1/2 hr, that said I'd been watching lightning since midnight and either it was cc that the detector wasn't capturing or it was the storm working through central Wales reflecting on the elevated clouds?

My sherry was running out just as the 'squall line'(???) crashed through......

Managed to sleep woke up 11:30 lightning detector quiet so thinking bust. Woke again at 02:30 could hear Thunder and see lightning check Boltek and it was going crazy. However lightning eased and the most notable bit was the rain and the breeze. Overall a weak storm and playing back the radar confirmed my thoughts that it was a weak storm which for once didn't go round us. Hopefully better for Thursday night. Can I get two storms in a year????

Should get a new heat record tomorrow not that I'm looking forward to it. Our highest is 34.2C in August 1990

I was amazed that we broke the storm shield i actually heard loud thunder and saw countless flashes of lightning overhead in Dronfield it is a miracle i didn't think the rain was anything to write home about it, surely tomorrow night should be far worse with heat triggering far more severe storms you would think we are forecast 35c in Sheffield tomorrow.

31c at Leconfield now and its only midday!! Clearly the forecasts have overestimated the cooling effect of sea breezes.

33.3c is the July Sheffield record isn't it?

Anyone know the all time?

My station at home now up to 34.5c so looks like we've got a new July record at least!

I will be chasing later, don't really want to drive further than 60-90 minutes away. I think this area should be my best bet of catching a severe storm.

I reckon the yorkshire dales will do well
