Totally horrible day!

I've recorded over 20mm of rain today and it's been dark and foggy. Might as well be November!

Storm forecast was a total joke too over past few days. All in all a terrible few days to be honest

Lofthouse, Wakefield.

Local weather station reporting 23.0C at 12:31. Not massively hot and overall quite comfortable!

Just touched 24C, warmest I recorded ever was 30C on 1st July 2015, it's a good time of year to get hot with sun still maxed out.

Much warmer here then in Rotherham, my station currently at 28.8c so think we'll breach 30c here today

28.2C here so far according to the Davis Some cloud to the west with the decaying front which may come into play during the afternoon and may cap the temperatures a little bit.  Luckily it's not humid so that's one side of the forecast which is thankfully wrong.

Not fussed about 30C, too hot. Currently 26C in Wakefield which is quite alright!

That’s fair enough! Those sort of temperatures aren’t for everyone!

After weeks of below average temperatures and above average rainfall the sun has finally shown up and it has hit 30.2c here in North Lincs.

Hardly a record though, considering we had 36c this time last year and a single day of hot weather does not make a 'heatwave'. The media hype about a heatwave is typical 'express' style gutter press nonsense. As I've just had to explain to our children, it feels hotter than normal simply because we've had no time to acclimatise to the temperature due to a prolonged cool period for last few months. Normally the temperature builds up over spring/early summer and after acclimatisation we would not rank this sort of heat as unusual, maybe just at the higher end of typical summer day temps.

Our spring fed well and ground water levels are now well above normal so no problems with water shortages even if we had this sort of temp for the remainder of summer.

Getting fed up of media hyping every single warm day as 'extreme heat' and evidence of climate change. I'm old enough to remember summers in my youth that far exceeded this in terms of warmth over sustained periods. Absolute joke to hype a single day of hot weather as a 'heatwave'.

Well it has reached over 30c in Sheffield and about 31c in Chesterfield

Been for some beers in Chesterfield this afternoon and wow, ridiculously sticky on top of the high temperature, and even now it is boiling as of 7.30pm

Looking a bit threatening towards the hills past Chesterfield now though….

Roll on the fresher air tomorrow

Couple loud rumbles of thunder here now. Can't hardly see any clouds. Strange but definitely thunder!

Were a couple of strikes ont he detectors north of here so you're probably did hear them. The high level cloud just produced a great looking cloud but only a few spots of rain as it evaporated on it's way to the ground

Yes. Was saying earlier today that we can go to the Canary Islands (Lanzarote) as we normally do every August and be in a way, fine with the conditions.Obviously the breeze helps over there though, but yesterday over here was ridiculous.

Even a few pints didn't help me sleep last night lol.

Last year we got 'broke' into the heat if you know what I mean, but this year, especially round our location in North Derbyshire, it has been awful weather recently with hardly any strong June sun, then suddenly from Friday, a heat furnace building to its peak yesterday

Today though, as you say, just right

unsettled weather predicted for east Yorkshire this week has never really materialised, bit of rain here and there, but no heavy thunderstorms or heavy showers,we still must be well down on rainfall in hull and east Yorkshire.
