Thought the fog would lift today but if anything its getting denser here in Hull. No snow but today feels like a proper winters day with a glaze of ice over all the surfaces as daytime temperatures have remained below freezing.

Snow should quickly stick if we get those showers forming later. They will probably form in bands though, some areas will get a decent covering whereas another area a few miles away will get little at all.

Quick drive into Leeds to see a client showing between -2 and -3C there and back

Still freezing fog, coldest day since last March and what I would call a proper winters day

Icicles hanging off the shed and gutters, all the tree's and bushes covered in white

God help up if it does actually snow proper this winter

Been moderate to heavy sizzle in Buttershaw for the last hour or two, now a genuine covering on all surfaces. Lovely and wintery

This morning it was gin clear skies here.  (The crescent moon flanked by Jupiter and Venus was a gorgeous sight)
Sunshine lasted til mid afternoon and now its quite foggy.
I think I've just scraped an ice day.  -0.1 C at the warmest according to my home reading.
See if we get a few of the onshore snow showers overnight / tomorrow.

The fog never lifted and is thickening again. -2.1C high after -5.8C low at 8:30am. Now -2.9C. I went for a walk and thought it was snowing a few times but it was frost blowing off trees, power lines and phone lines in a very slight southeasterly.

After school, I had to laugh at my lads trying to break the ice on a full "builders'" bucket - one of those big soft things. They been doing it for the last few days but today they could not break it. It was crystal clear. I suppose the previous freezings took the dissolved air out so there is none left in and freezes clear after that. (Unless anyone knows better?)

Highest today was -1.5 here in Bingley.

Hoping for snow showers before this clod spell breaks.

I noticed some ice was especially clean and clear, I hadn't thought out why though til you wrote that

We had some of that here in Rotherham this morning when I was driving to work, very light and localised but gave a dusting.
