There's not enough expletives that can be used to describe today but I'll refrain. There's been so many of these wash out day's this Winter. It's like living in Seattle. At least tomorrow looks a bit better.

Its even pouring down at 300M ASL with no hint of sleet. Ive noticed the Euro4 model has performed really badly this winter when it comes to forcasting PPN type, numerous times it has forcasted snow this winter for me when all i got was rain, in past winters it rarely gave snow for here and it was a lot more accurate. Im sure its been tweaked to favour snow.

Weather warning's for RAIN... seem to be more accurate and sure-fire then any of the other warnings... at least so today...it's poured down from start to probably finish by the look of the radar.  Drains are blocked, ground is sodden, river levels are very high... hard to imagine now the wispy yellow grass of summer 2018 when the land was scorched dry by an heatwave.

I bet this morning it would of fell as snow at that height, the milder air has arrived now(if albeit not at the surface yet) so snowfall in the UK will be very limited now.

I've noticed it turning sleety here with the icy bits melting on my windscreen.

Had an interesting day. When I left to go into town this morning it was 3°C with driving sleety rain/wind and feeling absolutely disgusting. By 3 pm the rain had cleared and it had become much warmer as expected reaching a maximum of 9.6°C. Went to see Prince of Wales and it was actually quite pleasant in the warm sector and the Sun came out at intervals. Quite surprised how nice the day turned out to be after such a terrible start.

High ground was not mentioned on Granada Weather but I would suspect so

Just mentioned snow over Cumbria and Lancashire.

Interesting observations today, great example what a difference a bit if height combined with heavy precipitation can make when it comes to set ups marginal for snow at low levels I.e less than 300 metres. First thing experienced sleety rain in light precipitation, soon as it became heavier some wet snow fell, this at 110 metres, I travelled up to Perth in Scotland via a591 and a66 and there was settling snow at 250 metres. Temp 1 degree. Then rain at 150 metres. Then some sleety snow at 300 metres as it was much lighter. Temp climbed up to 4 degrees north of penrith on my all the way to beattock on a74 then dropped to 3 degrees. Then took a701 to Edinburgh and there was snow again above 300 metres temp back down to 1 degree, a slow climb up to 4 degrees by penicuik no more snow until near kinross on m90 back down to 2 degrees height I think around 250 metres..

Strange kind of topographic rainfall across NW England today. Here there no rain yet for the past few hours it's been incessantly raining 20 miles inland and keeps backbuilding. Check the radar if you don't know what I mean.

Some large flakes of snow here now as the the cold air digs in.

5th morning in the row with snow falling here which given that this miserable winter had so far only given me a single time, isn’t a bad turnaround.
