Temp rising again, that's me out of the game.

We haven't been in it since 2018.

Hope has, reality hasn't.

Temp 3°, sleety showers.  The hills carrying the A537 Cat and Fiddle road out of Macc are totally obscured, either by fog or snowfall, a look at the Cat web cam will tell me which.  Lots of green shadows on the radar so a sleety showery outlook for the time being.

The last few days have at least felt like winter, with lots of snow on the fells, and a decent covering here Monday morning with further light snow at times. Overall though a very poor winter snowfall and cold wise. I would rank it better than 13/14 and 15/16, probably on a par with 18/19 and 16/17 in terms of snowfall, but not as good for cold weather.

That's now 5 out of 7 winters in a row that have been exceptionally poor snowfall and cold wise in the main. Its reminding me of the period 97/98 - 07/08 which produced just a couple of half decent winters cold and snowfall wise (00/01 and 05/06), but also some very mild near snowless ones 97/98, 99/00, 06/07 and 07/08.. that was a long run of 11 winters.. don't want to wait another 4 to get out of current rut!

Very wet sleet falling - which is basically sleet already in its decomposition stage to rain at the moment it hits the ground...so unlike yesterday where it lay as slush for a hours at least today it's sparing us that inconvenience altogether.

Snowing here but not settling, south of Buxton seems to be where the worst of the road conditions are with the usual jacknifed lorries and bumped cars being reported along the A515.

Not the best of weather to be seeing HMS Prince of Wales docking at Liverpool today, i'm hoping that next Friday the weather will be less windy and rainy to get a good view of the carrier as it departs along the Mersey.

When you look at the radar and you see that mass of heavy preciptation across parts of the region. Staggering the rainfall figures for this February as it generally the "drier" of the winter months.

There were about 88 wetter months for this region than the old February record. At the moment, there are now just 16 wetter months. Incredible

Not a pleasant day but after 3 hours sizzle and an hour of moderate and heavy snow we are slowly turning white again. Yesterday's snowman hanging on.

More snow in the sleet than rain now. Supposed to be the other way around. But temps will soon be 10C.

Can’t help but feel as though these are the last flakes I’ll see for the rest of the winter/spring.
