Raining but I'm sure it's not far frombding sleet or snow as it is frigid.

Rain here, as expected. A hint of sleet in the rain perhaps.

2.8°C with moderate sleety rain. As expected. Temperature falling slowly though, see how far it can go. Unlike me to go far enough to turn to snow here though.

Actually WRF 00Z is a bit of an upgrade. Wouldn't be surprised if it turns to snow now in most places by 8:30. Looks alright.

I was wondering that because it turned to wet snow here when it got heavier, but has since got heavier still and now mostly rain with only a hint of sleet again. Temps probably on the rise now.

Agree, was sleety in heavier burst before then back to rain. March will save the day once more! (I hope lol).

Yes this Winter could have been worse. Could have been much better too. For March I'm not hunting for warmth. It's a bit pointless anyway as it's rarely if ever a warm month. Exceptions like the freak warmth of March 2012 can happen but very rare. To me most of the month still feels quite wintry. I reckon Spring kicks more into gear once the trees begin to come into leaf in April & the days really begin to draw out. The sun starts to have more bite to it then as well. Usually that's when I begin to get a bit red from sun exposure.

Agree, class March as winter still, first half if particular statistically colder and snowier on average than December. Remember SST values reach their lowest point right now, also arctic its coldest and despite the increasing warmth from the sun, both the land and sea take quite a while to warm up. Northerlies in March are as potent as those in Jan and Feb pulling in cold thicknesses. Also northerly and easterly airstreams are more likely in March than Dec-Feb as the atlantic traditionally quietens down..

Back to the here and now, sleety rain, might see a few snowflakes mixed in any heavier bursts.

Some photos of this week's snow. Whilst it hasn't been great..in this location it is still better than winter 13-14 for snow.
