Yes, they get worse and worse those automated forecasts, its because the last year or 2, even the more reliable high res models massively exaggerate the balance in favour of snow in marginals plus exaggerate PPN amounts as well, i remember one year, it had the heavy snow symbol over my area practically every hour for 36 consecutive hours, ended up with about an inch and a half in total.

Irish Sea has kicked into life, and we've had some sleety showers, but no snow as yet. Hopeful we might see something more substantive overnight than last night - still there was a light dusting this morning.. and the fells today have been cloaked in deep snow.

A lot of snow on the Welsh mountains on way home from work. Clouds looking like they were delivering more.

Nice to look at from a distance. Of course nothing lower down.

Have been used to this after living in Manchester for years and working to the south of Stockport and being able to see the Peaks. Pasted

you must get some on the Orme, but that said, it's quite mild even on the Orme, due to being surrounded by the sea.

We got a decent fall last year and there was next to nothing in town but as you say largely mild here compared to Manchester.

Ive noticed it is on average just 1c colder up on the Orme than at sea level. 

I'm still getting to grips with the local conditions.Seems most heavy preciptiion hits Colwyn Bay area or diverts down along the Conwy valley.

Having said that locals in the area on twitter were amazed last year when i posted the snow on the Orme.

On the otherhand last April temps were widely 21c 22c in the Northwest, similar up on the Orme. Brillaint spring sunshine. T-shirt and shorts.

Headed down to West Shore Beach, picnic, football, beers..to be greated with thick Sea Mist 14c. 

Quite an amazing contrast,

Quite similar here in Wirral.. I'm on a hill just a little higher than Deganwy Hill, so we avoid the sea fog most of the time, and it's ends up being warmer up here than sea level. We get slightly more snow but slightly less and less severe radiation frost in clear, calm weather as a result.

How are your palm trees coming along mate, I know a few years ago they were growing nicely, must be a full on jungle now with all this Winter heat?

They're doing well, bananas still got leaves, palms are fine, everything is good. Lowest temperature this winter has been -0.3C so not that cold. 

Cold doesn't really bother them on Wirral... But heavy snow might as it causes mechanical damage

Just watched it. That was a great win for City... pretty much dominated Real Madrid. First ever win over them & not an easy thing to do at the Bernabeu. Madrid looked a bit frightened by City's attacking power. City in the driving seat going into 2nd leg.

They've got a good chance imo. I thought Athletico Madrid looked very impressive against Liverpool too. Bayern did good last night as well. So many quality teams left in competition. But I think after City's win tonight it's going to fill them with confidence that they can beat anyone going forward.

Lowest was -2.8°C here, 7 air frosts.
