Lost count the amount of times this Winter that we've been in the orange or even red zone for accumulated precipitation. It's been a thoroughly depressing season.

There is a chance we could be heading for the wettest February on record for the regional figures.

It FEELS like it has been wet since about May last year.

I'm kinda hoping the summer is on the wet side as that must surely mean next winter won't be Atlantic driven...

I don’t care anymore all seasons ducked up probably have snow in summer then leaves falling off the trees in Spring and then growing back in Autumn

Since I came back from interailing around Europe in July....its literally just pretty much rained almost every day... has to be a record summer/autumn/winter for wet wet wet.... flooding in Whaley in summer...other places in autumn... now midlands, sw, Wales winter..... what I’d do for a month of sunshine and high pressure with maybe foggy mornings....

The wind is really bad tonight much worse than dennis, not named and only a yellow warning

Just driven the M60 from 21 to 24 and up M67. had to constantly correct the steering due to buffeting.

Just think what could have happened if the Whaley bridge reservoir hadn't been drained to a safe level. That wall and overflow wouldn't have stood up to this amount of hammer.

Indeed.... crazy weather.... this government and local councils need to look into future proofing and spending money where it’s needed.... not just upping taxes about global warming... it’s happening... but sorting out areas where flooding is happening now and previous.... stop building on flood plains and concreting over areas...

the glossopdale area.... doesn’t need any more houses... it needs infrastructure.... the bypass plan is a joke... let’s add a tunnel and three roundabouts?... let’s have three roads into glossop? I’ll be off this mortal coil before anything is done any hows.... another 30-40 years....

The one problem with the draining of Toddbrook now is that further downstream there's bank erosion happening due to the extra input of water into the Goyt from the pumps, the Canal and River Trust can say they're "monitoring" levels but rarely has the Goyt ever been so high for so long as it's been the past few months, people only started to take notice of the erosion when the banks next to the newly built B&M began to give way.

Some of the models are suggesting some snow at least over the hills for tomorrow night although no mention in text forecast.

Just seen your post in the MOD thread mate, agree seems very ott. Would love it to be correct but cannot see that at all.

Would not surprise me to see a few snow events for our region in March (and not high ground events)

Maybe the euro4 is correct and a spell of heavy snow is on the way early Monday morning?

One to watch now I think.

On the BBC weather on Breakfast this morning they were uncertain as to if the low will drift further north or south of its predicted path.

For once a little further south would be nice.

Could be quite a wintry end to winter - models increasingly trending to a predominantly cold zonal flow, low pressures embedded in quite cold uppers - marginal for low level snow, but significant snow to modest levels likely.. an interesting outlook. How many times have mild winters ended with a wintry bite.. many..

Looks like the window of opportunity for *potential* snow on Monday will be first thing in the morning before milder air quickly shunts the cold away. But at the moment I'm not convinced there will be snow cover as widespread as the Euro4. Though having said that when it's bullish like that it can be closer to the mark. The other week when the Irish sea never woke up properly it was correct. It showed virtually nothing settling away from the Lakeland fells.

All you need is an hour of heavy frontal snow to produce a covering even to low levels which is entirely possible in these scenarios as the precipitation will be quite heavy. I think 1-3cm even to low ground inland is a good shout.
