If I had the money, I'd upload a live feed to youtube.

The best webcam I found is just a bit south from you at the Winking Man pub on the Buxton road going towards Leek, really good quality live images. Not all that much snow there yesterday though, just snow flurries on and off blowing in the wind, I had expected more in the way of winter wonderland scenes up your way.

I'm 57 and don't think there were many snowy winters, I do remember more frost and high pressure though.

Next winter could easily be snowy and cold, at least in part.

Depends where you live too. If I recall you live near Flixton? Probably one of the least snowiest parts of Gtr Manchester given it's close to sea level. I worked in Salford & there was loads of times when it was snowless there but a covering of snow at home here in Oldham. But even here I'm noticing the lack of snow. Next Winter could be colder than average but there's no getting away from the fact that things have warmed up. Look at the Met Office maps for snow cover & frost. There's a definite trend to milder. And I think when the maps are updated again in the future we'll see it go further still.

I see your love of this winter is as low as your height above sea level.  Now I understand why you've used the towel.

Well after light covering of snow first thing this morning which was gone by about 10am it would still be nice to get a thicker covering that lasts longer. Meanwhile storm Dennis on the way but he doesn't look as strong as Ciara.

Still a chance of some brief front edge snow tonight from the main band, probably above about 200/300m. Pennies could do briefly well before milder air sweeps in

Really heavy rain here, not looking good for areas prone to flooding.

Another weekend and a repeat case of battening down the hatches and staying indoors as Storm Dennis lashes our country.  Locally I'm quite sheltered from the South Westerly winds although I expect it will still be downright wet and foul...but places to the North and West including Lancashire and Cumbria are in the 'sweet spot' for endless amounts of rain... hope they avoid any serious flooding but I fear water courses are already quite high.
