A nice graupel shower just gone over. Knowing my luck it will electrify in a minute after it knows I'm safely behind.

Yet another virtually snow less winter! 1cm of snow being my biggest snowfall since January 2013, unbelievably bad.

Just had a wintry shower pass through.

I am very close to calling this a write off, I don't know if anyone monitors the Euro 4 preciptation charts but none of runs for this period were favourable for this region

The man was in a popular spot for dog walkers in Liverpool when a branch fell during high winds.

Poor guy, wonder if we should have had Amber warnings for wind the last couple of days instead of over the weekend ?

Been mentioned a few time but the Irish Sea has just killed everything today

Maybe the instability is lower today than previous days or I just think the flow is that strong the clouds from the showers that hit Ireland are making it all the way across and they usually die off before reaching the Eastern coastlines of Ireland but today they are heading right through and then dying off as they hit the Irish Sea so all we left is a legacy of convective cloud so it's killing off most new showers forming. You see this process as the showers travel across Northern England, as soon as they hit the North Sea, they die right off.

Even though the winds may slowly ease, the trend is for the showers to die away anyways but never rule anything unexpected too happen.

What I am finding interesting is new weakish showers developing on the highest hills, I wonder what is causing that too happen? There's so much to learn and its clear for this region, cold air and warm sea does not mean lots of showers. The Irish Sea is too short of a sea track to behave like the North Sea and Atlantic does.

Showers have rattled there way over us all day, but nothing long lasting, couple of minutes at most, they have also been a mix of hail/sleet, no snow on ground below about 300 metres. Best place to be for snow at moment southern uplands of scotland it seems. Plenty of snow showers there.

My interest is turning to Wednesday night/Thursday morning - low pressure set to move NW and a front bumping into the relatively cold uppers, higher ground will see some significant snow, every chance it could fall on lower ground here, if the low pressure corrects a bit further south, these set ups can throw up a surprise.. surprised no weather warnings for Thursday for snow in S Scotland at least - I sense the Met Office are keeping a watching eye as they remain uncertain where the low will track, but fully expect a yellow warning at least come tomorrow morning.

In the meantime, want these strong winds to calm down.

Think everyone is baffled Kev. Seems like everything is going against us. Just when things are right synoptically speaking it's as if someone's cloud seeding above the Irish sea.

Just in from work. The wind is still  strong and is bitterly cold. Dry though

My mantra on here from now on will be

’the Met Office need to raise their threshold ‘

Very rarely do I need to be ‘warned’ about ‘snow’.

i had 1 hail shower in 2 days.

The day 10 GFS chart is disgracefully wrong. Shocking model.

Roll on spring.

I think the ice warning is a strange one. It feels that it is far too windy for ice to form and the the airmass is not an Arctic one. Also with the wind and hardly any showers, the pavements and roads have dried out. The predicted minimum is 3C here any case.

I can only really think of perhaps the air is not as unstable as we think as even though the showers further north are frequent, they are not holding alot of intensity in them so maybe there is somehow some drier air aloft?

Could be right, about drier air. Yes the showers are not packing much intensity and thanks to the wind, are scuttling through. Surprised not to see more trough activity - again perhaps indicative the air is not as unstable as anticipated.

The last shower brought a mix of hail and the first proper snowflakes.
