Just some evidence of the Irish Sea 'waking up' somewhat now with VIS imagery showing a greater convective signal. Showers unlikely to be as heavy as further N and W, but next 12 to 24 hours could still be disruptive for NW England if these showers develop....one to watch.

Very windy here.

Not the best at putting links on but i will give it a go.

You can see this Blackpool webcam showing the shower clouds in the Irish Sea.

Over 9 metre tide at 1230 so waves could be interesting.

Baffling, I can't make out what is going on with convective activity. You would think the "warmer" Irish Sea waters would sustain and develop cells over the Irish Sea. Masses of preciptation despite survivng their journey across the Irish mainland, soon as they move across the Irish Sea seem to die out. So why is the Irish Sea killing them off?

We've had two or three light to moderate hail showers this morning. Hopefully things will pick up a bit later. Irish sea not inspiring right now.

It's not the Irish Sea killing them off, I just think the flow is too strong so all we get is legacy of convective cloud from the Atlantic showers and isolated cells developing.

Since I moved down here, I was shocked at just how poor the Irish Sea is at developing showers, ii describe them as disorganised popcorn showers, random little showers pop up anywhere with at best a 5 to 10 mile radius wide and no real obvious direction to them so no real idea whether they will hit your location or not. Compare that to the North Sea and when easterlies develop, its chalk and cheese.

It does seems like however areas to the south of the Isle of man will do better than areas like North Lancashire and Cumbria.

Certainly feels more stormy last night and today, than the weekend, I wonder if that's because the wind is blowing more Westerly so we're not blocked by the Welsh hills ? At least it's starting to feel like winter at the moment, just a shame it has taken nearly the entire winter for it to happen
