Something odd is going on, I don't know if there is a gravity or standing wave effect involved but watch the showers come over the Irish landmass die out as they head out over the Irish Sea but showers redevelop over the mountain of Wales and inland parts of northern England.

Very very odd, natural instinct is showers at this time of the year survive over water and die out as head further inland.

Its almost a summer type convection set up with a sea breeze front killing the showers from coastal areas.

Odd how suddenly a cluster of shower develops off the Fylde and Ribble estuary area,

Shower development can be baffling at times.

Yes..!

Odd - the radar shows this perfectly - are the Irish Sea temps too warm?

I think it's just the flow being so strong and maybe some sort of orographic resonance. The warmer the sea the better for convection.

Watching the weather radar showing some showers heading out of Ireland and waiing for the showers to arrive.

Only for the showers to vanish near the Isle Of Man then appear magically again just near Preston .

There are dark forces at work this is clear.

A super shield in the Irish Sea that something has control of.

You can have one hell of a wind today on the Fylde Coast but showers are kept for those chosen ones.

You are not worthy.

What do we do  to become worthy of a snow shower or two.

Is this to much to ask.Watching these vanishing showers is unbearable after a day or two.

Off to lie in a darkened room for an hour or two .

Bits of wet sleet falling, and showers pepping up over the region, but all a bit underwhelming compared to the copious amounts of fluffy white snow falling in Western Scotland....and today is a outdoor work day so for once hoping it stays as melted slush to be honest.  Roll on spring.

Dry here, bitter out in the wind. Stuck in the gap between the two main streams of showers at present. Hopefully things will improve later, as others have suggested.

Just looked out light snow falling but think it’s fizzling out and no way will it stick as the ground too wet

Heavy sleety hail showers passing through on the very strong winds, nothing long lasting though. Snow line appears to be about 350 metres. Could do with the winds dropping a bit, and upper air temps falling a couple of degrees.. both things are set to happen through the day, so greater chance I feel this afternoon and evening of some proper snow hopefully settling.

Rain and hail here this morning (not even graupel in the true sense sadly) however that wind absolutely howling all night and continues now. There must be a few trees down in places
