Poor METO office text forecast if you are after snow (especially low ground)

Rain showers perhaps merging into longer spells of rain.

Tomorrow more showers perhaps wintry

Wednesday Frequent snow Showers Which is strange as the forecast at lunchtime was a ridge to build in and showers to be less frequent.

C.S

That Wednesday forecast warrants a gif of Manuel from Fawlty Towers saying Que?

Sleety downpour just hit Maghull. Looks like tiny little ice pellets mixed in with some rain.

EDIT - heavy hail shower in squally gusting winds

Because of the shorter sea track, Irish sea convection tends to be alot more limited, disorganised and at times quite unflattering than what the Atlantic and North Sea can produce. Its just pot luck how much shower activity you can get really.

Sometimes it does ramp up but unlike the Atlantic and the North Sea these tend to be in isolated spells rather than anything prolonged.

I'm aware of that, I'm just puzzled why showers that make it across Ireland are dying a death.

mmmm...strange, showers seems to exiting Ireland in quite a beefy state... tracking the Irish Sea and appearing to lose strength and shape...but then livening up again as they make landfall on the North West coastal strip.  Almost a mini squall line now over Merseyside?  Is it wintry in nature?

Dry as a bone here still...

Tomorrow evening best chance IMO.

Uppers at their lowest tomorrow.

You may wish to check your radar. You have showers inbound an hour away.

Good stuff...just shows if the shower is heavy enough it can drop snow...might just scrape it's northern tip... still dry here but showers incoming on the radar.

Yes, is that the colder air moving in?

Dew points are a little above zero in most places south of Teeside so i think it's more intensity and duration.
