I thought Buxton would be doing well snow-wise from this trough, here in Whaley it's wet snow but not settling just yet.

Weird updated warning that from the Met Office? Band has already flew East and they’ve backed the warning west?

Hopefully showers pack in later and produce.

Nothing all day here bar a few hailstones around the school run time this morning. We seem to have fallen just between he two bands of showers . Maybe we’ll snatch a few flakes off the incoming band in an hour or two

Poor METO office text forecast if you are after snow (especially low ground)

Rain showers perhaps merging into longer spells of rain.

Tomorrow more showers perhaps wintry

Wednesday Frequent snow Showers Which is strange as the forecast at lunchtime was a ridge to build in and showers to be less frequent.

Because of the shorter sea track, Irish sea convection tends to be alot more limited, disorganised and at times quite unflattering than what the Atlantic and North Sea can produce. Its just pot luck how much shower activity you can get really.

Sometimes it does ramp up but unlike the Atlantic and the North Sea these tend to be in isolated spells rather than anything prolonged.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
