Flood warnings now for the River Irwell from Bacup down to Ramsbottom and looking at the amount of water running down the main road towards the centre I can understand why.

And with good timing... We're getting an absolute onslaught from nowhere. Around 55 to 60mph gusts now... Large trees are rocking.

I think we might be about to experience a foehn here. The rain has stopped, the skies are getting brighter and humidity is dropping. It's getting warmer too

not much wind here,  such a boring location for anything extreme,  just the bog standard stuff of moderate rain and slight breeze

Just goes between calm and breezy here in St Helens. Nothing major yet, apart from heavy rain.

Quite a squall line on the radar at the moment from almost Morecambe Bay to the southern tip of Eire

Yes, will certainly notice it when it comes on through.

It's heading north east.

Gone absolutely mental here now. Mean windspeeds of 40mph and gusts of 65mph facing out on the Dee estuary

A fair bit of flooding in Bacup town centre now and the road down the valley is now shut where the Irwell has over topped its banks.

maybe not quite as bad as Boxing Day 2015 but certainly the worst we’ve had here since.
