Just a heads up to members south of Manchester a trough crosses north Midlands and north Wales Monday afternoon as shown on the fax charts most models are showing this as snow as it comes inland PPN charts show a few cm of snow so not mounting to much but @CreweCold may escape a snow less season

Getting gusty but not too bad yet. Looks like the real fun & games begin during the early hours onwards.

I take my iPad into the bathroom at night for that reason!

Been able to hear the wind for the last 10 mins or so. Just dipped into the Ireland thread, it seems the rain has  become more of a concern than the wind at the moment.

A picture/diagram of the Beaufort wind scale. Could be some structural damage tonight. 70 mph winds is classed as a hurricane in America btw. Not sure if that is average wind speed or gust speed though.

I think that the rain may be a bit of a concern for the high ground across our region and the other side of the Pennines if the forecast amounts come close to happening.

80 to 100mm isn’t looking good for anyone in prone areas given the wet weather of the last few months.

Yup. Sustained wind speeds of 20-25 mph and wind gusts of 45-60 mph forecast for the region by the early hours of Sunday morning.

I think the Pennine upslopes may have a decent covering TBH.

Anywhere exposed to the wind has a decent shot a falling snow at least. I'm thinking maybe as far S as Wilmslow given the wind direction.

It'll be dry, cold and gusty here.

Pretty wet and wild out now.

We thought about going up the road to the local but after a couple of beers it’s time to open a bottle of red and sod going outside in this.

ESTOFEX level 2 for us now, not seen that in a while.

Screenshot_20200208-211024.thumb.png.78bbf01f6a52a38e5f7dd865cdbd4405.png

"A level 2 was issued for Ireland, southern UK, northern France, Benelux and Germany mainly for severe to extremely severe wind gusts and tornadoes."

"Given very strong background wind field, with 850 hPA windspeeds around 35 m/s, convective line may enhance the wind gusts near the surface, resulting in widespread severe and isolated extremely severe gusts."

Here in Wirral it's currently peak gusts to 40mph. I don't think it'll get too bad tomorrow here.. Somewhere in the region of 50 to 60mph peak gusts.
