Manchester Airport TAF updated at 14.50 indicating snow showers between 3am and 11am that is the most wintry update of the season from the Airport just shows sadly how pathetic this so called winter has been.

I'm not so sure, looks like a shift further north too me on this GFS runs. Uppers get slightly colder around midnight with slacker winds so we see where the PPN is by then.

I was going of the PPN charts which I know are not the most reliable incidentally XC weather which I believe is done on the GFS is predicting some insane snow amounts which just goes to show how much exaggerating of PPN the GFS produces.

For Example XC Weather predicting

5cm for Northwich

7cm for your location

3cm for @CreweCold

7cm for Manchester Airport

The list goes on

It very rarely snows in Crewe, and those exaggerated GFS values can kiss my rear end.

Precipitation levels dont fill me with confidence...

Might scrape a bit of wet slush overnight...so ice more a problem than anything fluffy & white.  Regardless, it will be back to mild & wet for the end of week.

Well I'll take this. Shame it won't turn out that way. Met Office one not looking as good. A mix of rain & snow.

One of those instances when evaporative cooling comes into play, in heavier precipitation away from the coast and a bit of elevation, then snow could give a decent cover.. touch and go..

Good to see reports of snow at low levels in N Ireland, that bodes well for some. I think the window for low level snow will be the depths of the night, and more so first thing around dawn..

Pity the cold air is going to be quickly pushed aside.. still it will be nice to see the hills in white for a couple of days.

Yes still too early in the evening for anything particularly wintry. 3am onwards looks to be the best shot at snow opportunities - especially as we are due to bring in a w/nw flow around then introducing the chillier Polar Maritime air. Might set my alarm for 5 or 6.

Had hoped for some potential snow activity this evening, alas as said chances wont appear until after 2am.. not great timing a Monday night.. anyhow hoping to wake to at least some snow falling from the sky, any cover will be a bonus.. another marginal set up that could go either way. Not expecting much, just a slight cover would do.. to redeem what otherwise will end up being a snow free January.

No point in posting them all as they're not good but pretty much all the models on meteociel showing a mostly high ground event in the morning (300m+). I'm afraid it's looking very marginal for us below that high altitude. But they've been wrong before we'll see.

As expected the coldest of chilled rain has falleth here overnight, no sign of any ice on the ground.  On a plus note the garden path of false wintry hope as been laid by the models to gather in the vulnerable and lead them to the ice age beyond D+240hr....?
