About 10 minutes ago i seen the closest and loudest lightning strike of my life! It was amazing! Was that close my total field of vision went blue! Looked less than 1 mile away!

Cumbria got quite lucky yesterday with a widespread lowland snowfall, was good driving through the central lakes this afternoon, snowline roughly about 350 metres northern lakes, but thanks to heavy rain overnight more around 400-450m mark south lakes.

Doing better than last winter at this stage at least, when we had to wait until late Jan for first morning with a snow cover.

Pity the snow looks like it will disappear on the fells later this week - yet another run in to christmas devoid of snow, 9th year in the row we will have endured a mild run in period.. fortunes may change just after christmas hopefully, many a year a mild run in and changed to something colder just after the 25th..

Feeling a little despondent that the weather looks bland over Xmas. Not cold. No storms. No snow. Just meh!
