Well chaps - Salwick is looking forward to 6 hours of Sleet :oldgood:

Elevation should do reasonably well if the 12Z GFS is anything to go by.

Not expecting much more up here although after it took until 12th December to get our first flakes of the winter, it’s nice to get a few days where at least a chance of something white exists.

Yes such a shame the Streamer of 'shower-after-shower' belt today wasn't snow...we'd have been buried in it.  Alas the ground is absolutely saturated around here, large puddles and standing water.  Seriously need a dry spell at some point soon.

After the horrendous rain we’ve had again the last 24-36 hrs with it being 3c to 6c...yuck....

this has to be the best Peak District forecast update of the winter thus far

view-of-the-peak-district.jpg
WWW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK

The Peak District is home to a wide variety of magnificent hills, moors, outcrops and gritstone edges.

Plus netweather forecast for Saturday night into Sunday.... interesting

Similar Forecast for Manchester which is surprising going to be very marginal for low Ground but theses events sometimes have the element of surprise

I think it's going to be a higher ground event. Good if you're altitude is above 150m. Lower than that probably a real mix of everything else. And yes we really need a dry spell soon. Been an atrocious day.

As others have said, a few degrees colder and all of that rain would have given a lot of the region a decent dumping.

We ended up with this from a similar set up a few years ago and it even managed to hang around for a day or two.

Not sure what the sea temps are like in the Irish sea but we've had a few months now with colder than normal temps. We might just get lucky. If not it's still early days with plenty of time to go.

Latest Euro4. Not quite as good as the 12z but still ok for us in Greater Manchester. No doubt another downgrade tomorrow.

Just driven to New Mills and observed a strange sight on the hills to the right of the A624, the bit that continues from Hayfield to Chinley.

It appears that snow has made an appearance❄
