Would love a little snow...even a flurry on Sunday as it’s my birthday... might have white hills around...

Some torrential persistent rain over the tops and to the east of the Pennines so far this morning, here just a little bit sheltered from the heaviest rain by the hills to the east but it's starting to gather and push westwards now so I guess we could join the flooding issues as the day progresses.

Seems we have had this set-up a few times this year.

What's the betting if it were winter and parameters support snow, that it would push much further north and become stationary there or stay  to the south or die out as it came over the Pennines?

The rain is really tippping here now

Yes rain lashing it down here now, both intensity & wind have picked up to lay it down with a vengeance.  Yes I'm sure if it had been snow forecast it would have had difficulty tracking over the peaks & pens that rain seems to have no problem sailing over.

Rain band still pepping up from the east, areas currently under heavy rain unfortunately look like they could have it for awhile yet before it clears southwards overnight.

No concerns for Glossop on the national map but a very different story on the East side of the Pennines.

Looks like another soaking come Saturday  more Heavey Rain and a cool 4c also some heavy snow for areas above 300m meantime the rain here has been relentless and plenty more to come looking at the radar.

Surprisingly the new A555 bypass is holding up well despite the conditions, the pumps at Toddbrook in full-flow to counteract the excess rainfall which is raising levels of the Goyt but only incrementally above the natural spate levels. Just the usual localized problems here in this part of the peaks with runoff and drainage issues.

Nothing much to report here, just a wet, cold, and dark day.

Steady rain for most of the day here, but nothing 'biblical' like what's happening 30 odd miles or so east aka Sheffield.

Does anyone know why the water has all pooled on the East side of the Pennines?

Seems a lot more flood warnings than on our side.
