Other than a few drops if rain, dry here all day.

Thunderhead on the Southern horizon. I presume this is the Stoke cell.

Kicking off to the west again... and anything that kicks of further south of me, dies a death by the time it reaches here.  Sign this one off as a close but no cigar event...not holding out much hope for a thunder bolt & lightning here despite the warning going up to midnight tonight.

The cell near Stoke appears to be fizzling out now. It was looking like properly roaring into life about half an hour ago. Skies still look encouraging, but radar shows most of the action to be North and East of here now. Will see what happens, but I suspect that's it for our chances here today.

Something a little sparky as just spawned off to the north of that dying cluster... fingers crossed it might rear up into a beast as it tracks northwards.  Very localised though I would have thought.

After a frustrating day of seeing everything either west or east of here, my first storm of the day and it seemed to appear out of nothing north of Manchester.

absolutely hammering it down at the moment.

Dodgying most of the showers today which makes a nice change to this time a week ago...

Quite a pleasant day really, much better than forecast. Tomorrow looks reasonable as well.

I'm struggling to remember when I was last had a direct hit of a meteorological summer thunderstorm during the day! I reckon it was 2013!

All recent storms that have been very close and they have been few,  have been overnight or evening events.

Lots of thunder from a cell here earlier this afternoon, only two flashes seen of sheet lightning though, most of the lightning was intracloud and not directly overhead , but a very loud cannon shell  sound must have been a fairly close CG strike, could have been a positive strike jumping clear of the main thunder cloud

I took a wander up on the hill earlier to take a peak at the operations, the main focus still being on the breach at this time.

I know it was a long time ago but it's odd seeing the RAF repair a dam for a change.

Hope all is good as can be in this bonkers weather of ours

After a cloudy morning and early afternoon with a couple of showers it's brightening up now with sunny intervals and currently 20.8C. There's quite a brisk wind though, feels a bit autumnal.

Missed all the storms this weekend but had two overnight storms during the heatwave a couple of weeks ago so not that bothered really.

It's a bit wet outside again.

Friday doesn't look great for us either.

It’s gone crap hasn’t it. Currently 15°C and overcast with showers, breezy as well. Pendle Hill covered in mist, not seen the sun at all today. And they were forecasting today to be the better day compared to yesterday - well they clearly got that wrong.

BBC Weather forecast looks very uninspiring - after Friday it’s forecasting every day to be 16-18°C with rain or showers pretty much every day. But that’s what we usually get in August anyway so shouldn’t be surprised.

Nice November day, street light will probably come on this afternoon.

Our first autumnal storm on Fri, looking very wet for these parts. Roll on September when summer usually returns!

Hopefully but even the past two Septembers have been disappointing.

Anyway, it’s a nice day today, blue sky, plenty of sunshine and some fair weather cloud. Currently 20°C. Make the most of it because it might be the last nice day we get for awhile.

Was woken up by lightning just before and distant rumbles of thunder. Unfortunately as is often the case the storm has died before reaching here.
