Peaked at 33c here in S Cheshire yesterday not the extreme heat of London and the SE but extreme for the NW where anything above 25c is a scorcher in Summer Much more comfortable today fingers crossed August bucks the trend of recent ones and stays warm and settled

Last night was horrendous for sleeping... the fan just circulated hot, sultry air... that said we've had two decent spells of thunderstorms (Tues night) and last night but both at silly o'clock hours that you can't really appreciate due to the zombie-like state your in down to sleep deprivation.  So glad it's fresher today but maybe a price to pay for a weekend of rain.

Last night was a much more comfortable night for sleeping compared to the previous one. I've enjoyed the thunderstorms this week but am now looking forward to the cooler conditions this coming week which will be more comfortable for outdoor activities as well.

I thought we'd stay  mostly dry here this weekend. However, it hasn't stopped raining since last night.

This month could end up being fairly wet when totted up (though nowhere near as wet as June was).

Depending on how August pans out, we could be looking at a very wet summer on the whole (and given the extensive N blocking we've done extremely well to remain as dry as we have for much of July).

This time on Thursday I was sat outside on the decking drinking mojitos! Today I’m sat inside drinking hot chocolate like it’s October as the rain pours outside - UK weather

20mm has fallen here since midnight with perhaps another inch to fall over the next 24 hours.

So that's June at over twice the monthly average and July looking to end above average too.

Almost 30mm of rain since it started falling just over 24 hrs ago. These rain events are something else in terms of duration this summer.

It shows what a fine line we've been walking in terms of the frontal boundary.

Rain for about 14 hours so far and looks like staying all day, it's just like the weekend we had earlier in the year when it rained for 48 hours solid though it was heavier then than now.

If anything the radar is intensifying to the east of the region and it's trundling through very slowly.  Lots of reports on MEN of various flooding incidents and the A555 Airport relief road under 3ft of water in parts!  A developing situation.

Yes I can back up that statement.... the heaviest rain of the day here now, coming down like a monsoon.  Slow moving as well.

Pretty bad flooding near Daisy Nook garden centre a stone's throw from here. Oldham council cleared it but now the flooding is back. The river Medlock flows right next to the garden centre.
