Ironically - in Winter this would be a snowfest.

The rain direction unusually is from the East to West coming over the Pennines and reaching us on the Fylde.

Max 9c feels like 6c drizzly rain on and off today... heavier stuff overnight/tomorrow? 32c in Berlin on Monday will be a shock to system...

Just been out and about. Surface water flooding starting to appear in places now with parts of some roads submerged.

Unlike the SE, we've had enough rain in recent weeks so saturation point is being easily reached.

Heading towards 40mm now

Interesting the rainfall accumulations for  the last 12 hours on the netweather radar. Not sure how accurate it is but looks as though not a lot rain in the M62 corridor from about Middleton to Hull

Not had much at all here. Definitely an interesting rainfall distribution.

Yes, Manchester rainshadow in full effect for us today. Just sporadic light rain here. At least it isn't winter and cold enough for snow!

Closing in on 60mm of rainfall now. What a spell of weather- more rain to come later on today and tonight too.

On target for about 3 inches of rain when all said and done, which is pretty much what I was expecting from this.

Compared to other areas we've only had 5mm in the last 24 hours. Seems to have done it's best to avoid this area. See what tonight brings.

Its been a rather unusual synoptical set up so far this week, the driest parts of the UK seeing the most rain, and unlike normal we seem to be in a rain shadow effect, indeed other than some patchy rain overnight and shortlived dose this evening its been dry here... however we have had quite a bit of rain already this month. Forecast is for some heavier stuff overnight, and tomorrow morning.

Another chilly day ahead. Miserable stuff!

More dire forecasting from the BBC/Meteogroup. They had it lashing it down in Manchester most of the night. Yet the Met Office forecasted the rain to pivot around us and stay fairly dry, which turned out to be accurate.

It's still cloudy, but much brighter light today. The last 2 days have been really gloomy even when it wasn't raining.
