Yes, i have been thinking by that school looks good when i get the 350 bus, mind you the only place i could afford round there is in that dodgy part, thats probably near 1000ft, top mossley probably even higher and the Hartshead Inn probably the hotspot, they get proper dumpings there.

The old school was the building wreckage on the left up the hill, we used to get snowdrifts off the moorland hill blown across the school. Was at high school 87/92, copped some amazing snow. Me and my mate used to wag it when it snowed and walk the Roman road to Dovestones.

Tomorrow could deliver the heaviest snowfall of the season here... only 3 cms to beat mind - who knows.. Evaporative cooling will be the determining factor, its a hard one to call, but if we see 2-3 hours of heavy snow it could lay down a couple of wet slushy inches. Lakeland fells will see quite a few inches by the end of the day I imagine. Temperatures will probably struggle to make it above 4 degrees, so any snow that does settle unlikely to quickly thaw unless the sun comes out for any length of time. A winters day in March coming up - often have one at some point in the month. In the fells I rate March every bit as wintry as December, and temperature wise can and often is colder than December!

Oh hello! Where did this little southerly tracking low spring from for tonight. I do well from knees.

Looks like  a classic  cyclonic loop of surface winds. Pretty likely to see a period of snow then; or at least rain to snow; maybe like 8th March last year. Exciting.

Then tomorrow night another snow chance. As I have said probably the wrong side of marginal for me at the coast though. Quite a lot of CAPE and low T500s however so maybe some convective action.

Merseyside - No chance.

3c cloudy.... had a swirling rain/hail shower at the end of the match.... hoping for some snow... still so up in the air on any detail... anything from zilch to 20cm on the hills...

The WRF 18Z a slight upgrade with the centre of the low a little closer; heavier precipitation; slightly lower freezing level; wind backed a little more; just generally  better overall.

Currently 4.5°C, hoping for at least a few hours of heavy snow from around 5 am.

I’m going to be up so I’ll keep reporting.

The wind hasn’t backed off-shore  completely yet and  evaporative  cooling hasn’t come into play. It’s a bit lower than I thought it would be actually. If it doesn’t drop in earnest with the heavy precipitation then I’ll throw in the towel but still hopeful atm.

 Good luck all.

It would do at 300m - you will get 2-3 inches definitely.

Ouch - little bit less confident now, not enough snow on the current radar.

Awake

Fylde coast snow was forecast by some apps 8pm.

Tonking it down atm but it’s definitely the wetter of the ppn  variety and not white.

Terriers out later then cabin up.

Temp is falling away but I don’t think it’s going to be quick enough unless it gets a move on in the next half an hour. 3.2°C.
