Well yesterday wasn’t as bad as I feared. The cloud stayed away all day and the on-shore wind didn’t knock the temp down much. Maximum temperature was 14.6°C. Last night it fell to 2.9°C before the cloud and showery rain came in at dawn.

What do they say?

A false sense of security?

Must admit - I've enjoyed the last weeks weather - long overdue.

Amazing isn't it?  First day of meteorological  Spring tomorrow, and we've been catapulted right back to weather more typical of January.  7.9C at almost 3pm, the "warmest" part of the day, moderate rain and gloomy.  Only saving grace is lack of wind.

I really wish we had proper seasons again and in their right places.

Edit: note to pedants, my observations are subjective, I post as I feel.

I prefer last year, as it was the first time since 2013 where the seasons felt like proper seasons.

Going back through the years though, I can’t remember too many years where the weather was fitting to the season. Even the 1980s had months that were colder and warmer than average. 1982 started off with the proper winter month, but February was fairly mild. The flip side of this would be summer of 1980, which was cold and damp in July, but the February of that year was fairly mild also.

Thought most of the wind and rain was going to stay south on Sunday but of course it's now going to crank up a gear and give us a slap in the face.  Don't plan on any outdoor activities on Sunday....make sure you have an early start tomorrow.  Saturday afternoon, through Sunday...not good.

Freya should do a good b**w job looking at the charts.

We do need the rain though as the ressies are still not full and that could be bad if spring is relatively dry.

Just a light breeze here. Probably sheltered in our valley

Rain not heavy but persistent from mid morning onwards... very calm no wind... but should turn a bit breezy later on this evening.   Hopefully it will all clear through overnight and not linger tomorrow.

A surprise snow event on the other side of the Irish sea.
