House well and truly out at sea. Some huge gusts from over the fields as we are flat and exposed.

Oh my! I'm so scared listening to the wind right now... It's even drowning out the husband's snoring! I've not heard wind like this for a long, long time. I want to get to sleep and I can't. Everytime I start to drift off there is a gigantic gust that makes me jump. I can foresee lots of damage becoming apparent by dawn. (And as I type, another chunk of something has just hit my velux window... Right above my head...)

My building is old and creaking... It's not good. Lots of damage from this I imagine.. I've heard few loud cracks and bangs .. it's very exposed here too to the west/southwest

Good morning.Just north of Blackpool near the coast

Impossible to sleep with the wind from hell blowing outside

76 KMH Gust at 4am probably more,it sounded like it.Peaks of 107 KMH. All hell is being let loose, well it sounds like it anyway.

The storm has been building all night .I hope it calms down soon.Must be damage round and about.

Back to shelter, take care out there.

Over and out.

In Reddish atm so don’t know the speeds, but the wind is loud enough to wake me up. Rattling through the house.

Nothing out of the ordinary here, But that’s probably because  I’m in a sheltered position. Probably a different story a few hundred yards away.

My house is west facing, and  getting a good  battering, it backs onto a park so there's nothing to buffer the winds. I expect there'll be a good few big  branches down. Our old American bull dog will be happy out on walk today

Think it’s calming down a bit here now

very strong gusts but not as frequent I’ve never heard wind like this in a long time it’s the weirdest noise ever like a constant loud rumbling but I can here gusts as well as that.

Rain battering my windows thought at one stage we’re going to have a power cut but thankfully not. even the dogs scared he’s hiding under the duvet. Like I said I think it’s calming a bit not as often quite scared at one point thought my windows were going to come through

It looks like there is plenty of firewood blocking roads around here this morning for anyone with a chainsaw and a truck.

I just hope that my fence panels aren’t adding to it.

Seriously windy in the night here with some vicious gusts though doesn't seem to have done any major damage, just rearranged the garden furniture a bit. Don't mind a bit of stormy/windy weather. Provides some weather interest.

Woke at 2:30 to the sound of rain lashing the window and the wind howling, really wild night. We've lost a slate off the roof and a bush in the garden has fallen over, seems we've escaped the worst of it.

Westmorland Gazette

POLICE are warning people not to travel unless absolutely necessary and thousands of homes have been left without power as Storm Erik continues to lash South Cumbria.

The first 'named' storm of 2019 has battered the area overnight with the wind and rain set to continue through most of the morning.

Trees and powerlines have been brought down with almost 7,000 homes in Grange-over-Sands, Kent’s Bank, Allithwaite, Kendal, Ravenglass and Ulverston left without power.

Winds have gusted to 55mph with some the chance of gusts hitting 70mph in coastal areas.

Been the story of the Winter, oh well onwards and upwards. Out to the Alehouse with the Mrs to watch the rugby.

Maybe March will deliver

Garden fence panels damaged with two fence posts snapped at the bottom.  Fortunately it's the housing  association's job to repair/replace the damaged sections.   At one time I was worried one of the posts could come crashing through my bedroom window.

Hopefully we’ll be doing the same at teatime for the football.

Absolutely no damage in the vicinity and no rain last night. All thanks to the sheltered hollow I’m in  that protects me from W/SW winds. If that had been a S/SE gale then it would’ve been a different story.
