And mine. Even the hills are green with white lines where the snow has piled up against the walls

We had heat snow in gran canaria

The sand was very white and hot in the playas, probably the result of heat snow.

Actually, this reminds me that while I was sunbathing on the beach, I thought that from now on we will have to rely more on sandy deserts and beaches for albedo effect. They don’t reflect the sun as much as the snow but at least they are much more reliable and not sensitive to the rising temperatures.

Looks like I should get another air frost tonight. Wind is backing off-shore throughout the night.

Had a massive longing for thunderstorms and the convective season today. A bit early for me but I’ve had enough drizzle and cold. Maybe because last summer was so poor convectively.

And sunbathing  is more pleasurable  on sand than snow

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
