Can't really call it the coldest night of winter so far. It was mild damp and foggy all night until about 6.50 when the ski's finally clear but as the sun almost out Ice on roads isn't going to be issue except for ungritted side roads.

What a terrible and mild winter this has been. Worst one for quite a few years for this reason. I suppose a couple of days with 3 inches of snow lying cant be gripped at.

Frazin! cold this mornin'

Looks like we'll have to sit out the snowy fun and games the southern folks will have today and into tomorrow.  We've had our slushy north westerly...now let's see what real 'settling' snow looks like.  I'm sure it will be all over the news.

Take solace that locations in the NW that usually miss out (compared to your patch) , got an absolute pasting yesterday.

Wasn’t slushy for us!

I’m allowed to boast as 99% of the time north and east Manchester do better than here.

I seem to recall somebody saying that Thursdays event needs the precipitation to reach Northern Ireland to bring us into the game.

Well, it has reached Northern Ireland.

Don't say it, I can't cope with another cycle of excitement and then let down!

Also was only -1 this morning at 7.50am when I left the house, not the coldest night of winter at all.

Oooh, interesting, who said that? Plus the models has trended back north, not lots but might be enough to squeeze some flakes?

Only just, the frontal showers are in NI, I think that poster referred to the main band. The heaviest precipitation is still going to be in the far south anyway.

Indeed

Latest Euro4 Brings @CreweCold into the equation later on tonight.(infact most of Cheshire and the most southern areas of the region)

The very same Euro4 that nailed yesterdays event

The band is definitely further north than Arpege has got for 9am? #Straws but better than being further south.

Look east not south guys. The euro 4 has upgraded the showers that will be coming from the east/northeast tomorrow.  They seem to form streamers by tomorrow afternoon giving an added covering to the pennines. Some may penetrate further west enough to give some interest to the day .

Cool. Just check the Euro4  9am chart and the band is even further north than that forecast,

That's what the Met App says. And i have been pushing this all week, further south that front is more chance for snow from the east.

Not quite far enough north. IMBY. Although you lot deserve some snow.

The heaviest sections of precipitation look further south than initially forecast though, within that. So we might get some snow but the areas that were predicted to get pasted will still get pasted (South of the Watford gap).

Yeah, fair point.  What will be will be, I  made peace yesterday that it was off! haha. Any flakes falling from the sky are a bonus.

Got down to -8.3*C in the early hours, now at -6*C. Just shows how low it can get with a decent snow cover, plus yesterday only maxed at 0.2*C. Reasonable cold snap for this location.

As far as I can see they haven’t even made it into N.I.  It’s been right on the SW boarder of Co.Fermanagh since 7am but hasn’t moved up to any real degree..

Maybe it’s a dummy run for a hard boarder?

NW Radar has Pinks into NI - front pushing N.

Game on? :shok:

Literally just creeped over the border into some fields near Eniskellen.  Some frontal showers out in the Irish Sea pushing in as well. Needs to push a bit more solidly northwards though to do anything for us.

Front deff further North, we're the last suburb of South Manchester so maybe a little later - Euro4 to watch

Yesterday was great, a few pics, save for the driving to work

Further afield ECM has us in Easterly - but post 144 so we'll see
