Cold hunt - models and chat

Paul
Message added by Paul

Please ensure that the majority of your posts in this thread are model related - a theme of model discussion needs to run throughout.
Some off topic chat and reactions are ok, but please use other, more relevant threads for entirely off-topic chat (such as snow reports, met office forecasts and general chat/moans about the weather or this winter).

For more no banter and just model discussion please head to the new focused model thread - this is also a great place to post (or cross post) your longer model summaries or thoughts around the models.

I want to see everything modelled further south even if it means missing out here in northen England .

Keep the cold locked in.

The rule tends to be shallower and further south with these situations. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes through France we end up dry and chilly.

Deeper low on the ICON already, this carries on with the trend thagt I'm noticing today for a stronger/more northerly low. We will see how it evolves but my guess is a solid channel low, maybe even brushing S.England at times.

It's a good thing that it keeps moving north currently as we don't want it to trend too far south, is that correct ?

Tuesday's low looking slightly further north and slightly deeper on the ICON 12z than on the 6z.

Is this good news ? Where is the low suppose to track ?

What will that mean for areas seeing the snow? Will it be a north of the M4 event.

More of the south into play from the low itself but it also has a frontal system bringing snow east across more central and northern areas,

72hrs and system moving ESE as it gets forced by the upper low moving down from Iceland. Still strong system and will send a frontal band across the UK, the far south may see an even longer period of snow from the other front over the channel.

The eSe motion may have stopped this from being a widespread 6-9 inches event on this ICON, but that's rather too close to call still!

Lots of disturbances here, even if the south benefit from this I would hazard to suggest the north and midlands would be hit hard later in the week, assuming we don’t see the same trends with this low where it seems to be diminishing in strength and trending south.

It brings snow to southern counties of England and East Anglia, but also a frontal system pushing through Wales, the Midlands, Northern Ireland, Northern England and southern Scotland, bringing some snow to these places too for a time..
