Cold hunt - models and chat

Paul
Message added by Paul

Please ensure that the majority of your posts in this thread are model related - a theme of model discussion needs to run throughout.
Some off topic chat and reactions are ok, but please use other, more relevant threads for entirely off-topic chat (such as snow reports, met office forecasts and general chat/moans about the weather or this winter).

For more no banter and just model discussion please head to the new focused model thread - this is also a great place to post (or cross post) your longer model summaries or thoughts around the models.

It’s been mentioned already but the met mentioning the lows going down into the Bay of Biscay might of been one hell off a good call . It was kinda strange them mentioning that in there update . Let’s hope there bang on .

The gfs 18z is cold from Sunday until at least the following Sunday. I’m in shock too . Wasn’t exspecting that at all . ??

Sunday to Sunday 850s below

Yep he said it - the low pressure looks to postion it's self to the NW and bring milder air undercitting it (then after, mentions snow may not be done with us) makes sense

Not a great 18z gfs IMO. No snow next week for most as lows go too far south and no snowy breakdown either. Would rather have snow next week than be chasing rainbows at day 10+

It won't play out like the 18z though. To many variables chance is probably 1%. Having said that imo you want to edge on the colder side as snow events will show up at short range. If we're on the milder side it's game over.

The gain is there in front of you..

A snowy breakdown seems a dramatic conclusion..given our luck..

But 4 once...its a coneievable scenario..

As crazy as it may seem..

The wait for the toilet...will have ya weeing for fun!!!

I wish i could use-different terminology..

But except..its a forum on a scale...to which i cannot !!

Mate, I love your posts but Google translate hits the buffers. After more than 2 pints I wee for fun anyway, whatever the synoptic!

Says we have had positive  AO and will switch to negative AO which could mean we will see much colder weather towards the end of the season.

Synoptics, though. Out at that range Siberian High is starting to backfill the colder uppers / and surface cold.

Not really, just hunting for a bit of snow.

I have edited it now. Got it the wrong way around.

Not for the first time , the gfs run at day 9 looks like the previous gfsp ......

oh, forgot to post earlier ........after the noon suites, I reckon that Leeds snowline (relating to the day 6 system, not the first half of next week) is probably adjusted south to Sheffield/n Derbyshire

So does this stop on the Welsh border??? ☀️

Seems to be a theme this winter that the 00Z models tend to be meh, whilst 18Z are the most interesting.  Or is that just me?!

The BBC have to be super reserved with their weather forecast. It's okay for us with the insight. But the general public go into melt down. They will cancel appointments, flights, etc....

Tuesday is looking good for the South. Just hope their isn't too much warmer air around that low. As it could be a sleet mix for the South....
