Please keep this thread solely to discussing the model output. The model banter thread is available for more loosely model related chat, ramps and moans.

now that’s better ....... more separation between systems and less intensity as a result equals more chance of disruption and sliding

Yep, look at the way the GFS blows up the lows compared to the ECM. Standard.

I think its maybe time to look for some upgrades between 144 and 168 hours on the gfs!!really nice  ecm this evening!!looks more like ukmo than gfs which is the main thing!!

Ecm does slide and does bring some snow down the western side England and Wales ..... south of the midlands is not snow .... all academic but shows how quickly the systems can lose their intensity once the downwelling wave establishes in the trop .... liking the arctic high at day 9 aswell ......

What a dump that was mate!!was meant to turn to rain in the end for the east midlands but in the end stayed as snow all the way and we got pummeled!!lorries were jacknifed on the a6 aswell and this was 1pm in the afternoon!!brilliant memories!!oh and then the beast of a slider delivered 15 -20cms of snow here on leicester 4 or 5 days later!!

I actually think that is a reasonable question. It would be good if folk who post charts where no model or date is shown on the chart kindly provide this info in their post.

Yes you are correct I was trying to post too quickly.

Thought it came across a little harsh

EC 168 similar to gfs para, this is the period to be watching IMO, the ops may well roll it over at the moment, but I say watch this space....

Yep, FI begins right there I'd suggest, as depicted by the ensembles spreads, anything beyond is just dreamed up charts or charts from hell depending on one's preference. In the main, everything synoptically is nailed beforehand so, let's get these chart examples into D3 or D4 by next Monday and what an end to January it could be!
