Coolish feeling, dry and cloudy here today. Max was 5C.

Yesterday morning here was cloudy with rain but the afternoon turned out a bit better than expected with some sunshine and today also had a decent amount of sunshine. The temperature has mainly been around 4c to 6c yesterday and today with a high of 7.8c yesterday afternoon. Merry Christmas everyone lets hope we all see some snow soon

Day 1 on the slopes turned out bright and as sunny, but a short day as we took a while to get up, get geared up and collect the hire skis for the 'kids'. Lifts also closed early as all the Austrians headed home for their Xmas dinners, which unlike us they have today.

Probably take Xmas day off as the forecast is for heavy rain in valley and snow up top. Not much fun to ski in, especially if you're not sure where you are going.

Just the same here in the fields although a bit of frost yesterday helped us lift a few more neeps but we went through a set of belts on the lifter with the tough conditions. Very dank and misty day here which is not helping an outbrake of pneumonia in the calves in spite of their earlier vaccination in early November.We are not alone as the grapevine says a lot of  cattle farmers have the same problem.The last two months have just been to humid calm and wet.

Heres to  a bit less rain and more wind in the  New Year and in the meantime  I wish everyone  A Happy Christmas  on the Scottish thread

Seasons' greetings to one and all. 

However, I'm not a big fan of the faux religious Xmas with its excessives, waste, and commercial connections, but at least it draws ( albeit temporary) attention to homelessness, lonlieness and family disconnects.

Off to tread eggshells tomorrow.

Much prefer NY's eve with neighbourly or even Burn's night associations.

Bloody laptop crashed last night and I was up until half 1 doing a factory reset. Then spent all morning trying to find my forums and groups and remember passwords. Buggerit. And it's still bloody raining.

We've tried for home made eco wrap this year. Blinking faff to be honest and got fed up with decorating them after the first five parcels so everything else is in plain brown. 

Merry Xmas to all you weather watchers. Let's hope for some snow in the new year (anything to take our minds off 31 January)

Merry Xmas from a soggy sounding Austria, as I'm lying listening to the rain rattling off the motorhome roof. It always sounds worse than it is, but its undoubtedly raining fairly steadily without me having to look beyond the blinds.

Turned to heavy wet snow now so I suppose I've officially experienced a white Xmas. 

Edit : Had to nip out to get prezzies from rear compartment so took a quick photo. VERY wet snow.

First time in a few days I've managed to put my feet up!   Will only be for a wee while though as more guests due to arrive this evening.

PJ  day tomorrow, eating leftovers, which I like to call  a ding dinner......(Heating up in the microwave!)  Gawd,  I love Boxing Day!

The weather really is a bore fest at the moment eh?

Anyhoo, enjoy the rest of the Festive Season guys.

No sign of any seasonal weather in the next week or so the exact opposite in fact, the Beeb's weather showing a wind direction if in the summer we would have a heat wave and temps up to 13deg/C nearly T-shirt weather.

Glad it’s forecast to be drier but a shame there is no cold on the horizon

 

As an aside, spent a bit of time recently in the borders (Gala, Melrose etc) and most recently Stobo/Peebles. I had never really been before, enemy territory and all that but aye, very nice.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I am with 25 other members of family in a beautiful 9 bedroom house we have hired for the week. We are on the Ayrshire coast in a small village called Skelmorlie. The weather was really nice yesterday with a nice sunset as we started Christmas dinner.

Time for a beer and a wee dip in the hot tub

Outlook couldn't get any worse. Massively above average temperatures for much of the period. This weekend temperatures are expected to reach 13C in Edinburgh, the average is around 7

We have young HC and youngest HC here for a few days and they do a good job of hibernating - except when there's food on the table!

Just getting my winter fix by looking at previous winter photos and traffic camera images from Scandinavia.  Proper winter there just now.

Good idea HC! I've got Norway webcams, think I'll sit and watch them and knit. OOOh and get stuck into the Cointreau, that'll help!

Much heavier rain than expected this morning so swimming down the fields again. Very windy this afternoon at 10c so must be helping to dry it up now.

There was an article recently about how the wet autumn has left a lot of them too skinny to hibernate properly. 

Well over here in Austria it has been snowing all day, to various degrees and effects. Wet snow down in the valley, but just managing to settle and accumulate. Higher up on the slopes it was a challenging day, very hard on the legs due to the loose snow (not what I'd term powder, but not heavy wet stuff either) and poor visibility making it difficult to see the bumps. I'm not looking forward to waking up tomorrow morning as I suspect my legs will be on strike. 

Yesterday was much brighter.... 

Would have been little point trying to take a photo today.
