Looks like the cold returns on Sunday and then it's SNOW SNOW SNOW till Wednesday!

Stunning sunrise this morning.

Still a very wintry scene here - hopefully the hairdryer/rain that hits tomorrow and early Saturday AM does not wipe it all out before the cold air sinks South again Saturday PM. 

Looks very snowy on Sunday for those exposed to the Northerly wind!

Another stunning day, minus 5.3 this morning and only -0.6 now at 1pm.  Further inch and half snow last night then a stunning sunrise which I alas mostly missed.  Looks like brief milder few hours before snow sets in again later Saturday up here.

+3C in Edinburgh, looks like it rained last night. All of yesterday's frost was washed away.

Today's models postpone the colder air from Saturday afternoon to sunday evening, unfortunately. There is still a lot of uncertainty, but for now it looks like we could be having a very wet weekend, mild on Saturday and then slowly turning sleety and blustery through Sunday as the colder air moves in.

   some of those ensembles have a 2010 esque look about them to me... and phase 7 from the MJO beginning to look more likely... (think blocking)      Looks like the fun and games could start kicking off from this weekend as a low moves across the country pulling in a N / NE feed (question over strength of cold uppers, might be a more sleet / snow mix of showers)

I intended to have a stroll to Loch Lee from the car park in Glen Esk this afternoon, but after ½ mile or so, the road/track turned into a virtual skating rink. Turned back, not having a (hmm …walking stick,) ...pole   with me. Temp on the rise, 0C-1C up there but feeling much colder than that.

A very bad ‘blown out’ pic but nice clouds were on view.

For some strange reason I'm not able to reply or post over in the cold hunt thread.. still looking for Scotland next week and I'm not sure why the folk in the South of the UK are so upset.. have they not had any snow yet??❄❄

ECM snow depth charts are looking tasty 

Tuesday 29th January 6pm

Friday 1st February 6pm

Certainly a good dumpling for higher areas, hopefully conditions are right for low levels as well. The GFS and the para are looking great if not even better. Plenty to look forward to as we head into next week

not this week no..lol. ive gone onto my profile and cant see anything to suggest it. and i was able to post yesterday.

Maybe they've just banned anyone Scottish from posting in there as a precautionary measure, especially if the snow depth charts @Stormehposted prove to be accurate. If they are, then by 1st Feb I'll have given up trying to dig my way out. There'll be a path kept clear between the door and the wood shed and we'll hole up until the spring.
