Looking fwd to some long lies this weekend as the kids footy gets frozen off..... I have some stock photos on my phone now for the whats app thread to prevent the need to get out of my bed and carry out the pitch inspection

The grey slab of cloud that has been sat over my house for what feels like a life time has finally broken and i can see brightness. ive also had to turn the heating up so temp must have dropped as well. things looking brighter but colder over the weekend. beyond that who knows.

That wind sure does have some bite to it today. Mrs Big Snaw wants the heating on during daylight hours, i passed her an extra jumper and said it gets dark at 4pm.

Afternoon all

This weather is more like it! Lovely day with a current temperature of 7c. (Should all wake up to a frost tomorrow)

St Andrew’s day looks absolutely baltic - temperature here will struggle to reach 2c so I imagine inland will be hovering around freezing. (Ice day maybe? )

Definitely a good day for some neeps and tatties!

I have still never tasted/tried haggis so I might even give that a go! (Probably the only Scottish person on earth who has not! )

Also looking at a wee Winter break somewhere - been eyeing up Tromso, Norway for a few years so maybe time to do something about it! Looks lovely there today. (Cold and snowy - not a bad outlook either for the next few days )

Enjoy the rest of yer day!

Following an hour or so of gusty wind mid-afternoon, there was quite a steep dip in temperature, the car sensor reading 2C at 4pm, a drop from around 7C on a sunny-ish morning.

Some wintry looking clouds were in the background over the hills, which fortunately have not deposited any precipitation over my still sodden location.

Much nicer day, but walking out the door this morning was a shock even at 6C, as there was a strong cold wind. Drove through a heavy shower on the way home from work that turned sleety at 3C, and the showers that have been falling occasionally since have a definite sleet element to them.

Much better day as the very wet gound started to drain. Some wintry looking showers to the north over the Firth in the late afternoon and a few of the higher hills round the Firth have a fresh snow cap. Currently 4c

ha, you're not on peat! Site here is, and it's about 99.9% water after 45mm rain in 2 and a half days. Do not step off hard ground on to the black and you will never be seen again!!

I heard hail on the window a while back so went out to look and was greeted by the hail turning to wet snow. I suppose it all counts! Currently 3C.

Still a sleety wet snaw mess here. give it another 4 weeks and this set up would be so much better for many of us.

More snaw now and a slushy mess forming on the car.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
