Under a little streamer here, hopefully plenty of snowy ones in the winter

Glory days! My favourite Winter of all time! (Even better than 2009/10)

I sat in the airport yesterday and worked my way up to page 255

Late February to early March really was something special. Was amazing reading it all, checking the historic charts and reminding myself at just how good a winter it was locally.

Two days in a row we've had lovely autumn sunshine here. Temp hit a chilly 3.4c during the night. The garden is getting the attention it so sorely needs and looks so much better for it. The weekend looks like utter keich and next week looks like we might be getting the first Autumn storm, depending on what forecast you read! We'll see. best get out and pull more weeds now!

It s been nice and sunny here today too but there are a couple of light showers about now.

10.9C max but a definite chill in the Northerly breeze.

Single figure maximum today at 9c with a fresh northerly wind and light showers.Quite a wintry looking  sky across the Firth late in the afternoon. Twin calves  inside for a couple of days to bond with mum and allow slighly smaller one to put some weight on.

On the radar can see some pinks and greens in the showers  over the higher hills so will look out in the morning to see if Ben  Wyvis has a wintry cap.

Evening all!

@101_North and @CatchMyDrift totally agree - first page sets the tone for most of the whole thread! Personally January 16th 2018 was incredible - double figures for intense/whiteout snow showers plus the thunder and lightning was fantastic. What a week that was in general! (Soon to be eclipsed at the end of February/early March)

Hopefully another memorable Winter thread for 2019/20!

In the here and now...perfect Autumn day! 12c, endless sunshine and a strong biting wind. Only difference tomorrow is less wind!

Looks very cold tonight - freezing in rural areas with frost! About 5c here.

Great start to October and a lovely post sunset currently.

Now we just need the Winter 2009/10 and late Nov 2010 to Jan 2011 threads resurrected?

I bet the 2012/13 Scotland winter thread would be a good read especially toward the end and March 2013.

October 1st Signing on for Winter 2019/20 yesterday fitted car with new winter tyres,  now traditionally that puts the botchach on a cold winter.

But today had to come out scrape the first frost of the winter off the windows of the car, I think this year is going to be the one !

@West Highland Storm I remember you last October saying Winter was going to be a bramer...can’t believe you are cursing us again by saying you think this year is the one.

All joking aside...let’s hope you are right! ⛄

Another stunning Autumn day here - grass frost up the local hill. (98 metres)

Lorenzo arrives tomorrow night giving me 40mph gusts into Friday morning which should blow some leaves about...standard Autumn weather here. (Different story for coastal areas of Ireland and Northern Ireland with 80mph gusts!)

Just now, CatchMyDrift said:

Yeah I'd probs be more worried if they showed all winter at 3C below average, was just punting up some models lol

could you imagine it 3c below average all winter... the MOD thread would be some place to be. would still be some complaining.

Something that I've noticed a bit different this year is the amount of geese that are flying over the house in the last few days seems to be a hell of a lot of them !

Instead of flying south seems to be more of an east/south east direction, they're heading in.
