@Mr Frost intense looking cell to your NE on the radar can you see it?

Seen that! I am stuck in the house waiting on a furniture delivery. 😂 (I would be up on the local hill otherwise)

Ten minute walk up some stairs behind here would give me a clear view - so frustrating!

Current view below.

Also looks decent out West to Dunoon - should be getting that soon enough.

Story of the day so far for me...watching the convection build and then it moves off just to the North East (Loch Lomond) and explodes with thunder/lightning! (Half an hour ago)

I know someone who works at the CalMac ferries head office a 15 minutes walk from my house - so asked her to go outside and take some pictures looking over to Helensburgh/Lomond hills!

Looks amazing!

@howham - I'm over near Fyvie today, inevitably bone dry. Until I opened this tab and started to write this dung, the sky's opened now.

Excuse me, I didn't write dung. I wrote oh wait not the never mind

Radar looks full of very heavy showers. this could be a big day for rain totals. anybody in here know what the record rainfall is for August? i bet @Kirkcaldy Weather will have the knowledge on that one

"UK rainfall records for short durations" Highest 5-minute total 32 mm* 10 August 1893 Preston (Lancashire) Highest 155-minute total 169 mm 14 August 1975 Hampstead (Greater London)

https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/research/climate/maps-and-data/uk-climate-extremes

nearest station I could find to Crieff is Strathallan https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/research/climate/maps-and-data/uk-climate-averages/gfj27juds

averages August Rainfall 68.9mm https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/research/climate/maps-and-data/uk-climate-averages/gfj27juds

nearest rainfall data to you I could find is Strowan https://apps.sepa.org.uk/rainfall#361047

hope that helps 😀

1 torrential downpour and some heavy rain for about the last hour. Chances of storms look low now, but potentially something forming near the M77 and heading this way from a quick look on the radar.

Ayrshire seems to have had yet another wet day with reports of flooding on the A71 from the most recent batch of heavy showers.

Anyone use Radar extra on here? Would you recommend it? @Paul 😀

I have always used WeatherPro which is fine for live radar during all seasons.

However...can’t zoom in and getting the most recent lightning I need to wait twenty five minutes after it happens! Seriously think it’s time to give something else a try.

I have used it lots in the past and it is great I use the free radar ATM, will look into getting the full package for the upcoming winter

Heavy rain on here again.

Cheers @Kirkcaldy Weather and @Hairy Celt - will more than likely sign up for it.

Some day again here for convection all around me but wish I had been a bit further North East!

Not one drop of rain until after 7pm!

Tomorrow looks decent once again - hopefully see something but looks as though it will be more inland.

Some other pictures from earlier and a nice sky to end the day.

I will be very sad when all the warm and convective Summer weather ends...not long until Winter though. ⛄

I hear Keith and Fraserburgh have been hit by storms and torrential rain but I can't find any evidence online yet. The radar has suggested they were getting hammered. Looks like Elgin flooded too.

I have used the radar extra in the past and liked it. I now use the free nw storm radar which is fine too just doesn't have the bells and whistles, like ppn type, zooming in more, ppn accumulation and being able to go back further in time, Dr Who-esque.

  • Spring has sprung: Warm sunshine today and more to come this week

At least the weather's doing its best to cheer things up in these difficult times, as spring arrives in earnest. While there'll be a few hiccups on the way, the coming week also looks fine and warm at times, particularly over England and Wales. Read the full update here

Spring warmth and sunshine this weekend but we've got to stay at home

In normal times we'd be talking about the excellent timing of the sunshine and warmth coming through at the weekend. But of course,a0these aren't normal times, so even though temperatures could get to 20-21c in places tomorrow, we're all going to have to enjoy it from home. Read the full update here
