Scotland/Alba Weather Discussion 2019

Recommended Posts

Lovely day in Inversneckie with blue skies, max of 23c and light winds.  City hoachin' with visitors and the Belladrum festival has gotten off to a great start weatherwise.

Clear blue skies all the way back to Aberdeenshire and a lovely sunset to round of a cracking day.

Some shots looking West thru NNE from layby on A96 near Thomastown (just east of Huntly).

We really are lucky in this country for scenery 😀

Everything's relative but there's a real autumnal feel to it this morning with thick fog and a "chill" in the air. The reality is that at 10C our overnight low is actually average for mid-summer, but it feels cool after the last couple of weeks.

Morning all!

Putting me in the mood for Autumn with those pictures @CatchMyDrift - lovely!

High of 23c yesterday - blue sky after lunchtime!

Lay about in the sun for a few hours then a wee local walk afterwards.

Another nice day ahead and a wee chance of thundery showers later!

Sunday looks good at the moment for thunderstorms - another day up on a hillside beckons! 😀

Have a good Saturday everyone!

Another decent week here this week. Only a few distant rumbles of thunder in the end. Still waiting for the full on flashbangwallop. Today looking decent again once the sun breaks through. Currently 15.5°C.

Quick run back down but looks like some action will kick off shortly here - Metoffice have thunderstorm but I think it will just be torrential downpours!

Enjoy your Saturday night!

Another thunderstorm here though quite a bit smaller than the one a few days ago, very localised 3 bits of lightning and thunder with some torrential rain. no sign of lightning on radar though which is strange.

Thunder here! Finally! Not the loudest so I think it's the cell just to the west.

Thanks. I'm in East Renfrewshire but haven't seen anything that interesting yet.

With the recent warm days, mild nights and the occasional splash of rain, the garden shrubs/plants (and weeds) are running amok. I quite like the effect, but not looking forward to autumn pruning.

What a storm when it was so unlikely today. Still ramping up as it moves away with some loud thunder. Absolute deluge as well.

The sky looks very dark to the south though I haven't heard any thunder yet.

I really need to move. Crieff is like the Bermuda Triangle of weather. i must have really jaffa cakesed the weather gods off at some point. also i'm gonna ask this just to make sure i'm not completely mental. any dog owners in here that do a voice for their dog? the wife thinks iv'e lost the plot as ever since our puppy came home 4 weeks ago iv'e been her voice. the kids think it's the funniest thing ever but the wife thinks i'm mental.

It is absolute bonkers just how consistently warm the temperatures are and how many thunderstorms, funnel clouds and torrential downpours some of us have had.

23c again here today and the sky was full of fun once more - tomorrow it’s 20c (add a degree or two to that) and an even bigger threat of storms.

Estofex forecast for tomorrow.

307588E7-E542-48F9-A29A-EBF10FF58D18.thumb.png.e031a38818893c4cba5834c6bdd692d1.png

Metoffice local.

That’s now three out of the last four days for convective heaven here and tomorrow to come.

Even from Monday to Wednesday the risk is there for many of us and it’s still warm!

This Summer is becoming my all time favourite!

My storm risk map for tomorrow image.thumb.png.d519b901d6e8939694e184daa1ddb5d3.png  could be a bit of a messy one tomorrow with a large area at risk, unlikely that all areas in the zones will see storms but looks like the main risks will again be frequent lightning and intense rain giving a chance of flooding with a front moving in from the south west meeting the quite high amounts of CAPE in place (also possibly troughs ahead of the front) smaller orange zone is due to only 2 of the models I look at showing the risk for a possible bigger storm developing somewhere in the north of England sometime tomorrow night and moving north west possibly affecting more eastern areas although could end up failing to develop or ending up in the north sea.

  • Warm run-up to Easter but a destabilising low means sunshine and showers at the weekend

High pressure is keeping our weather settled at the moment, and in the main it'll stay that way until the end of the week. But with low pressure helping to destabilise the atmosphere this weekend, the sunshine will be joined by some heavy showers. Read the full update here
