Scotland/Alba Weather Discussion 2019

Have to say it’s been far warmer down here.

Saturday - borderline sunburnt and reached 20c.

Sunday - very sunny again and 21c.

Today is slate grey skies though

As an aside, Pollen levels have been really high this summer so far. As much as I love fairly humid conditions above 20c the associated flies/midges and pollen is horrible

Good Morning all!

Same as @SW Saltire - nice weekend with temperatures of 19/20c. (Cloud rolled in yesterday evening)

I see the Metoffice have put out some very early thunderstorm warnings for Thursday - bit of excitement at last! It has been a very uneventful last seven days or so here. (All very average)

Hopefully we get some action here at last this year, but I'll not hold my breath 😂

It's been pretty bland weather over the past couple of weeks, definitely average although rainfall has been sparse with less than 10mm over large parts of the south at least. I never checked further north:

If you're on Facebook look up some of the Italian weather pages or pages like Severe Weather Europe. Some of the thunderstorms over there have been unreal. Tennis ball sized hail!

@Mr Frost @CatchMyDrift I am waiting for Thursdays charts on the shorter range models before doing a forecast but looks like a trough / fronts moving in from the west and temperatures probably low 20's 20190708.0459.PPVL89.png  CAPE values look decent with anything up to 500 CAPE, also keeping my eye on Wednesday evening especially for Fife and Edinburgh (and possibly a line SW of these areas) as possibly something thundery developing behind a front pushing north again Cape values 3-400 +

Lovely sunny day here

Mid 20s, wall to wall sunshine, gentle breeze...perfect. Oh wait, I'm in France, no prize other than kudos for the first to guess where correctly...

Fabulous day fresh sea breeze  from the NE  blue skies sunshine and a maximum of 19c. Ideal weather to bale up the first batch of hay. All inside this evening before the forecast rain. Only downside is there are a lot of flies this evening upsetting the cattle with the humidity increasing in front of the rain.

Yesterday I was down in Edinburgh and it felt nice in the sun.  Also sunny all the way home.  Today is wet and I notice that Wednesday AND Thursday now have thunderstorm warnings here... we shall see.

Yesterday was still and humid, started to drizzle when walking to work . Not ideal conditions as sweating ! Plenty of midges at night on the walk home.

Yep, too quick, not that I expected it to be difficult. Just arrived for night I. A place called Objat, between Limoges an Toulouse. No idea of temp but it feels very warm, probably high 20s.

Hi all hope you are all enjoying the weather.. the wife has found a house in a village called Leadhills. Looking into it and I think it might be worth a look. Could be fun for winter time. Anybody here near that area and know what it's like.

It's the second highest village in Scotland. Thanks Wikipedia 😂😂

Depends what you do for a job?

High up so hilly but not miles away from M74 or A76.

Bit of a ex-mining village. In other words, inbetween Dumfriesshire (lovely area) and Southern Ayrshire  (Cumnock, Wanlockhead, Mauchline etc - not as nice) really.

Hi, my grandmother lived in Leadhills late 70s , the top road behind Leadhills was blocked by snow for several weeks.  Wonderful spot and always plenty of snow

Nearby skiing if you're into rough n tumble!? Lots of examples of the Leadhills webcam featuring snow in this thread during the winter.

How have we got to the point where such a completely stained glass windowless mountain is about to become PM?

I think we're just trying to outdo the Americans in the "who can elect the biggest idiot" contest. I'll know the result before the end of our trip through France, and I may just claim political asylum. Surely they couldn't refuse me?

It's been downhill from September 2014, but I suspect we're still fairly close to the top of the slippery slope.

Yes I seen that - Venice, Pesaro and Rimini to name a few have had severe supercells! The amount of lightning strikes and size of the hailstones have been insane! Wish we experienced those kinds of storms.

Weather wise it’s a grim start here - heavy rain and plenty of hill fog! Pretty mild though so that’s a slight plus.

@Kirkcaldy Weather looks spot on with his earlier thoughts on thunderstorm potential - East/Central Scotland, Highlands and Borders In  the firing line at the moment. (Not so great for me in the West)

Looks like a glorious weekend ahead for most of us - temperatures into the low 20’s.
