Arriving home, from a week away, it was like walking into a refrigerator. It took a couple of hours for the CH and stove on full burn to make things comfortable.

There must be a better way? And I have 3 layers of woollies on.:oldlaugh: Anyway it's B cold outside.

What a difference a couple of degrees makes.  Max temperature of 8c today, so not much more than yesterday, but enough to turn all the showers to cold rain rather than the mix of snow/sleet/hail that made yesterday so entertaining.  Add in naff cloudscapes it's been a forgettable day 😴

As predicted, another cold but bright early morning with a temp currently around 4C and breeze from the north.

Some quite spectacular formations of cirrus type clouds,  ? Cc and Cs

sky.thumb.jpg.e0e76ed3ff2c405213dd97454ee599a5.jpg

This one appears to converge towards the east, while simultaneously a similar formation appeared to converge towards the north.

Heavy rain in Edinburgh, was supposed to be bright and sunny! And the rain just keeps coming on the radar...

So rain from tomorrow to Friday, winds become very gusty at times from the north-east. Next weekend should be brighter and turning mild.

A sharp hail shower just slowly easing now after around half an hour. Temp dropped 4C since it started. Wind now ENE and temp 6C. More to come maybe looking at the radar.

Served me right for watering the grass earlier this afternoon.

Very promising runs today from the models. Things look set to turn warmer from next Monday as high pressure moves in from the south ☀️🔥😀

There is the potential for some very warm weather next week. We could go from snow this week to 25 next week in some places.

Before we get too excited, it is still in the mid-long range, so there will be changes. High pressure is likely though and there have been clear indications of this in the past few model runs.

Another cold and showery day in prospect, only 6c at the moment in light variable winds.

Been a lot of hail the last few days, something that is normally not that common here - good covering from the last shower....

image.thumb.png.c0032a731da0678991f17f3a5a0428e7.png

Could do with the weather warming up though, was supposed to be getting the exterior of the house painted this week but painter has postponed the work as its too cold for the paint to set properly (apparently needs 10c+ for the water based paint we've gone for).

here is the table view of the 2m temps for your area from the GEFS http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/gefs_table.php?x=0&y=0&lat=57.186089&lon=-2.499&run=6&ext=fr&mode=7&sort=0 looks like around mid month before temps frequently 10C + but worth keeping an eye on, GFS has looked better recently with a few runs having a "plume" type look about them - recent run from the GEFS showing the + 12 850 temps reaching even this far north. gens-17-0-216.png

A picture of the Glenlyon hills taken from Aberfeldy this morning shows the snow line well down the hills for May. Not likely to change much in the next few days but temps likely to creep up from the weekend. Here cool again with a few light showers passing by. 8C

Yes some very welcome precipitation inland last night but not  really anything here near the coast. Fire is still burning to the SE of me and rain will be helpfull but need days of it as peat is now alight and with up to five feet of it may burn for years.Keepers going round looking for mini volcanos on the peat and trying to damp them down with i.b.c."s full of water. The degree of dryness in this area is a real concern now. Currently dull and 5c

Cauld, wet and dreich about covers it. Currently 5.4C/4C after an overnight low of 4.1C. At least we've (narrowly) avoided an air frost during this cauld snap. Snaw back on the hills. *sigh * If only it were January...

However, it improves from Saturday onwards and next week is looking toasty and braw. ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️👍

A cold and wet day here. Steady rain at 6C. The 21.3mms so far makes this the wettest day here this year and it is not forecast to stop until after midnight.☔

A cold wet morning and early afternoon with a maximum temperature of 6c.

Dry now and even a few glimpses of blue sky to be seen though no sunshine.

A stiff ENE breeze makes it feel particularly parky outside.

If the forecasts from the various sites are to be believed, only light showers from now on into the foreseeable and a big jump in temperature into next week - that will feel most welcome after this week+ period of winter  😎
