Back to work tomorrow, 'mon the Snaw, won't be long before I'll NEED a snow day. I'll survive the first week, possibly the second, but by the third...

Please let this be me...

In the meantime, today wasn't too awful. On the mild side, dry, but utterly sunless (not quite as grey as recent greyness goes). Allowed us to get the motorhome emptied and cleaned in relative comfort, and the feed on one of the beehives changed.

What's the significance of the weather station photo, @shuggee? (Kind of expecting another embarrassing answer here...)

I thought a weather-related photo was needed and panicked.

Grey in North Edinburgh.  But very windy.

Mostly a cloudy day here in Barra with some sunny spells between the showers. Windy with frequent gusts of 45mph the highest so far being 53mph. Both the ferries here have been cancelled today.

Remind me, what season is this supposed to be again? 10C at 7:30am this morning.

Currently breezy, but for once the sun has actually put in an appearance.

Some cracking charts this morning in my opinion. The GFS and GFS para would deliver a good amount of snow for Scotland, I have a good feeling this SSW will deliver the goods soon and end this boring damp pish we have just now

Fine start to the day but has got progressively stormier culminating in an eight inch diameter bough  being broken off a tree in some recent violent gusts.Got  cattle all tested for TB before it got too bad.Currently strong wind, sharp showers and 7c

All change eh?  Was almost sunny first light, now dark, very windy and sharp showers.  So really quite exciting from the comfort of the sofa. I'll go for a potter soon to remind myself of what this sort of weather is like when unprotected.

Quite a nice variety of weather round these parts;

Two pics from a sunny Friday, with a severe frost and -6C in Glen Lethnot. Ice was beginning to form on the West Water.

Saturday afternoon was pleasant and sunny, while yesterday was best forgotten

Today is sunny again after the early morning mist cleared, mild, 10C at the moment but increasingly blowy.

Looks as if the ski resorts are in need of replenishment though.

Picture of today's storm. It's brought gusts mainly between 65 and 75mph for the Western Isles the highest being 79mph. The far north of Scotland has also seen high gusts between 70 and 80mph Orkney has so far reported the highest wind speeds with 97mph being recorded at Sandy Hill some of the other port harbours there have had gusts between 90 and 95mph.

Sunny, mild (max 9C) and stormy - plenty debris already on the roads round here and the wind is not due to peak until 9pm.

Unsurprisingly the Northlink Ferries are cancelled this evening.

Not a bad morning and looks like a frost tonight which won't be unwelcome.

The usual winter pattern is here - mild then cold, with the cold (and snow) always being pushed out to more than a week away.

A bit of calm after the storm here in Balmedie.    Quite a pleasant day now.

Seems to be a bit of growing interest in the models for cold/snowy weather to appear later in the month...…..

Felt more seasonal today and we finally had a NW wind after all these weeks of southerlly ones. Some light wintry looking showers coming in off the Firth with some blue sky in between. Currenltly mostly cloudy and 6c.

Probably the most confused article I've read in a while!

Beast from the East could return with heavy snow and freezing temperatures

The last paragraph in particular is a gem of confusion:

“We are not ruling out a return to cooler conditions, we would normally expect a cold spell or two during winter,” he said.

“It may happen, but there’s no signal of it happening in the models.”

Colder weather is expected to arrive in the last week of January, with an increased chance of frost, fog and snow.

Genius

Morning all! A dreich kind of morning here and it doesn't look like improving any time soon. Temp is 3.2c with no wind to speak of. Back to Dullsville again!
