Nice to see reports of falling snow at modest elevation.

Nothing in the East Neuk as yet  but it's a pleasant day with some sun and little wind. Currently 5c/2c.

Chances of seeing anything wintry over the weekend looks to have disappeared from the forecasts for round here sadly. Cold and icy this morning and a grey, cold day. Has remained quite dark due to the cloud cover. Still....I booked my Christmas travel back home to NI so it's a nailded on Christmas Snow fest for Edinburgh!

Seriously doubt it. Especially with the high pressure annoyingly sitting over spain and pushing north. Wet, windy and very mild looking increasingly likely as we head into the second half of december

No snow at low levels here, just up on the  mountain tops.  More than a bit damp this morning, got a lift down to polling station and walked back to deliver Chrissy cards around the village.  Wet feet as my boots are leaking! Must remember to wear them only on dry days!

I was mainly referring to gfs outputs that have consistently been showing very mild temperatures in the long term. I bet ecmwf swings round too this evening

Those aint very mild temperatures for here

Snow here now too. Big gloopy stuff. Just taken the dog out round the garden and up the hill and after five minutes everything's soaked through, including him!

0.9°/0°C.

5C and absolutely lashing down. Met Office forecast is for the rain to continue for the next 22 hours for NE Scotland.

Grim.

The result is apparently a done deal. Huge majority expected.

Looks promising, especially with some moderate elevation. Even if it doesn't settle, I'd imagine plenty will see some falling snow at some point over the weekend.

Morning all

Plenty of blue sky to the North East and Borders this morning, part of Northern Scotland, wee bit of the East, Orkney and Shetland show an orange sunrise while the rest of Scotland has plenty of yellow sunshine.

Tricky forecast over the the coming days - GFS snow charts (just for fun) shows potential snowfall and the Met Office mentions rain/sleet on lower ground with snow on higher ground giving accumulations. (Saturday)

Sunday/Monday Met Office has wintry showers on high ground with heavy falls over hills.

East Kilbride and Shotts (to name a couple of places) with a chance of snowfall.

Have a good day everyone!

I found this slightly surprising.

Temps are running between 0.5 C and 1C above the December average in the south of the UK. In the north, between 1C and 3C above the December average.

There would have been a shephard’s warning had the sky been red to my south this morning but thankfully that isn’t the case.... phew!

Watching the sun come up through some very grotty train windows, with only light scattered cloud but no frost.

Looks like a few favoured spots could see some snow on Saturday into Sunday although I am just expecting cold rain for my location.

Train windows too dirty for a picture but the distant hills looking north over the Clyde are pretty white and are stunning with the colours of the sunrise reflecting on them. @Mr Frost should have a stunning view this morning?

Still a bit miserable in parts of the NE corner and Borders but elsewhere in Scotland looking much brighter. Glimmer of sunshine over my house, which was a pleasant surprise to wake up to.

In real weather news, 4C and moderate to heavy rain in these parts.

 Ditto here

Incessant rain this morning flooded fields no hope of lifting some neeps for the holiday period.Hearing yesterday of more modern varieties of neeps rotting in the extremely wet conditions.Have never in my lifetime seen the fields so wet. Currently  6c

I knew I'd regret moving away from Shotts, although I still have respectable altitude at my new house of 190m ASL and only 6 miles away from Shotts. I'm fairly certain of seeing falling snow even if it doesn't settle.

Brightening up now after a fairly damp, dark, drizzly morning. Blue sky poking through. Sleet at best here tomorrow is my best guess.
