Temperature stuck at -5C, forecast max temperature is 1C . The villages around the local north facing hills will have an ice day.

Notable change expected tomorrow.

-9.1C at Tyndrum was the coldest official report pre midnight. Going to get to - double figures very soon I suspect.

Actually didn't quite make it. -9.9C at Braemar official lowest. Coldest of the season so far.

Geekie fact: That would have been the coldest night if the year in 1990 or 2014, the only years minus double figures weren't  reached somewhere in the UK since 1900.

COLD! (Still) but the signs of change already breeze just getting up a smidge and the cloud's rolled in (don't expect any rain) but that bring the milder nights back annoyingly

Ended up with the eleventh air frost at -6.5°C in the garden. Properly white and just replenished the bird feeder station with nuts, seeds and suet blocks. Already Mr Robin is looking delighted.

There’s a lovely knock on from feeding the birds, this cute wee guy was running back and forth last night eating the debris from the feeders

my wee weather station said lowest temp overnight was -8.9. Drove back from Fife  last night and it was interesting to watch the temps change. Temp rose climbing up to glenshee, then dropped again down to braemar. Glenshee was -3. This was 20 mins later in braemar.

Still -2.8 now at nearly midday.

Real midwinter day starting at -4 c,very low light through thin high cloud and calm. Contractor in muckspreading with an 18 tonne spreader,a job that used to take weeks now down to a few days. When frost lifts will get it ploughed down. Currently 0c so our first ice day of the winter.

Great pictures there @Northern Strath and @CatchMyDrift

My lovely frost has all but gone.  (Still some up on the hills in the shade)

Wet night ahead here! First in ages - if only it was one of those events when a front moves in...bumps into the cold air and you get snowfall for a few hours! Instead it will be 2c and heavy rain.

It really has been a glorious spell of weather - raw today after a cold start. (Anyone know what type of bird this is? Bottom left of picture...was quite a distance away from it and was very hard to tell)

Think it is a cormorant?

Large, predominantly black in colour (at least from afar), and with a distinctive spread winged stance, cormorants are one of the most conspicuous birds both at the Basin and along …

My coldest day so far too with max of -0.6C. If they counted ice days as being under freezing in daylight hours it would make it but I think temps are due to rise a bit this evening. Light layered cloud here also.
Just finished raking the back lawn which was completely covered by leaves from the back neighbours tree. Annoyingly they trimmed it this Summer but didn't touch the branches overhanging my lawn. At least I can see the grass now.

Despite the MetO forecast, temperatures failed to rise above 0C here. Cloud has increased through out the day and we now have a light westerly wind.

Update 200 tonnes of muck spread today as spreader has a weigh cell on it . Apprximately 40 tonnnes left to do . About a third less than usual as this heap is from 2018 when drought reduced straw yield and usage.   A dry autumn that year allowing us to keep  cattle  out  longer

With another clear and cold start it was a very frosty drive to work this morning, -5/6C all the way between Alford and Inverurie. On the way back just before 4pm it was 0C in Inverurie, dropping back to - 2C in Alford and it's surrounds. Going by the still heavy frost in places it's not lifted all day, so likely an ice day for some.

Now we start the slow climb back up to something more normal for November, but I'd say it's unlikely now for Nov to come in anything other than below average overall for NE Scotland. December and beyond is anyone's guess, especially given the lack of an organised polar vortex, with the strat vortex looking as if it's going to be under strain at worse.

Overnight low of -6.3c, making it the coldest night of the autumn - so much for the Met Office forecast low of -2c

Sunny to start with but rapidly clouding over, frost lifting in Aberdeen but stayed below freezing here (just, max of -0.2c).

Light winds and back down to -1.9c at the moment, though expect that to rise in the near future.

Met office outlook for here is deeply uninspiring, grey sludge for days on end.

It's our last full day of the holiday today before heading home tomorrow. We've been very lucky for the 2nd time in six months. Inveruglas has recorded over 2,300mm of rain so far this year but both weeks we've had here have been dry apart from the first nights. In contrast back home in the Borders has had at least 5mm of rain every day since we've been away.

We weren't feeling very energetic today but a walk from Strathyre towards Loch Lubnaig never fails to disappoint. Still some shreds of snow from Sunday night at relatively low levels in the shelter of the trees:

Then we went down to Callander for some lunch. Fergus & Clyde waited patiently outside Greggs just in case anyone was going to drop a bit of sausage roll:

You’ve brought back great memories with this post and photo Catch - have enjoyed your photos and it’s been a real trip down memory lane as know all the places you e visited - thank you!

Did you go to the Old Bank restaurant for lunch?(feels more like a coffee shop/cafe, but in a good way).  Many a time I’d drive from Fenwick to enjoy the best high tea I’ve ever had anywhere, either side of the border.  Have many pleasant memories of sitting by the roaring log fire eating a huge amount and having all the lovely cakes I couldn’t manage put into a box for the next few days.  Then a waddle walk around the delightful town to ease my conscience. One day I took my daughter there (all visiting family and friends were taken to Callander, whether they wanted to go or not, and she casually said, ‘I think the chimney’s on fire.’  We told the staff then just carried on eating - food was far too nice to mess about with a chimney fire
