The radar has shown a line of light showers coming in from the North Sea through here and heading West before dying out towards you. The ground is wet but I have not seen what has been falling. Did wonder though as it is still pretty cold. More still there at sea so must keep a better look out.

Had a heavy shower pass over earlier but although radar showed sleet it was just rain here, if temperatures fall a few degrees maybe some sleet might mix in here but certainly higher ground could see some snow out of the showers if they continue to move in and the ice warning for tomorrow might have been a wise move from the MO.

[Northernlights]

We are white for the first time this autumn .Looked out the window to see a moonlit garden where I have just finished digging today to see significant dusting sparkling in the light of the moon.

Currently -1c with more wintry showers coming in in off the Firth to the north.Were some anvil shaped shower clouds to the NE all day but they seemed to be stationary all day only coming ashore this evening.  The unusual  autumn weather carries on.

-4.5 degrees now. Yr.No are forecasting -12 for me on Tuesday!

 

As we now live in a caravan, and try not to use the on board facilities, I need to stop drinking so much coffee, as the walk to the toilet block isn't pleasant every hour or so. Defo made the right choice in buying a German caravan, toasty constant 22 degrees inside, and everything inboard so no freezing. Park is closed for a month, so all the wildlife are taking over, red squirrels everywhere, and rabbits . I've had a few moments coming over Glenshee late at night with stags in the road too!

It's been snowing overnight here too, something between a dusting and a covering by the looks of it.

Looks like the heaviest snowfall of the season so far. Sleet and snow is forecast for the next 5 hours before giving away to rain.

This is now the 3rd snowfall of the season.

10 years since.....surely not.....

Aye, slightly different picture up at the Lecht itself, looks like they've caught a fair bit. Cairngorms looking a lot better since a couple of days ago.

I'd say 1 to 2cm of heavy snow lying on my car this morning. What the forecasters would call a real "wintry mix" on the drive to work, a bit of everything. Temps between 0 and 1C all the way, lying snow is patchy. Some places looking quite white, others still rather green.

Ooft, aye, have thought the same, sensible head says no all day to that but given how all over the place the weather is these days anything feels possible and out of nowhere too

Yep Pentlands looking lovely this morning. 

The rain did turn to sleet here last night so not surprised to see a covering on the highest tops.

Last nights snow has gone in the sun but is hanging on in the shade with the frost which we have had for the last two days. Still a few wintry showers across the Firth.

Oooof. At 0.1C this morning I cannot claim the tenth air frost. Grrrr.

Dry and clear at 7am and a beautiful drive in below the Pentlands as others above have reported. Traffic not so beautiful at the moment.

Ice day yesterday near Wick. Today started very wintry (-2C) then we got a really sharp rain shower which was most unwelcome as everything got glazed.  A slight thaw on now with some nasty hail this afternoon.

Great to see the snow pics in here today! Absolutely freezing here from sea level to mountains - frost in the shade all day. 
Lovely spell of weather - would not look out of place in mid Winter!

Milder than yesterday (max 2.7C) here but feeling cold in the brisk at times North Easterly breeze. Max 5.7C with a min of -1.5C. Mostly sunny with just a few clouds in late afternoon though staying dry.

Interestingly the 6th to 13th November is one of the Buchan cold spells. These are where he measured temperatures over a period of years against a linear graph of changing temps between Summer and Winter in the UK and found they were below on those dates. There were six cold and three warm spells identified.

The November spell was certainly below this year. His next one is 7th to 14th Feb but in between he has a mild period from 3rd to 14th December.
